In the sixth year of the Western Han Dynasty (135), Tanglang County was established, belonging to Qianwei County. Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty set up three counties, which belonged to Langyue County.

At the end of 2002, Qiaojia County administered 19 townships and 180 village committees. In 2003, Qiaomaidi Town was renamed Yaoshan Town (approved by the provincial government on March 20, 2003). In 2006, Qiaojiaying Township and Xinhua Town were abolished and Baihetan Town was established. The newly established Baihetan Town belongs to the former Qiaojiaying Township and Xinhua Town, and the town government is stationed in the former Xinhua Town Government.
