Why do Chongzuo people say they are from Nanning?

Chongzuo City is located in the southwest of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and is not adjacent to Nanning, so Chongzuo people will not say that they are from Nanning.

First of all, Chongzuo has a long history. It is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is located in the southwest of Guangxi. It is the "southern gate", the intersection of open cities along the border, border economic cooperation zones and cross-border economic cooperation zones, an important land channel connecting Guangxi with the "Belt and Road" and a hub city of southwest sea channels, and a bridgehead for land exchanges between China and Vietnam.

Secondly, Nanning, referred to as "Tancheng" for short, also known as Greentown and Tancheng, is the prefecture-level city and capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the core city of Beibu Gulf urban agglomeration, the central city of Beibu Gulf Economic Zone approved by the State Council, and a comprehensive transportation hub connecting the southwest with the sea.

Therefore, there is no case that Chongzuo people say that they are Nanning people.
