The Journey to the West, as one of the four classical novels, is one of the earliest works that began to portray a large number of female images. There are as many as 27 female images that only contribute to the plot evolution of the novel, and there are quite a few descriptions of female images. The images of fairies from all walks of life are lifelike. Interestingly, the Tang Priest's names for these women changed with the situation, sometimes they were "patroness" and sometimes they were "bodhisattva". So what is the dividing standard? In order to test the spiritual firmness of the four masters and apprentices, several true bodhisattvas deliberately turned into several great beauties to find their son-in-law, and Bajie was almost caught. As the saying goes, once bitten by a snake, twice shy, and when you meet a beautiful woman in the future, you are simply called a "female bodhisattva".

The reason why there are two titles is also related to the habits of Tang Priest. As a monk, it is common for him to study abroad. Whenever he wants to find someone for dinner, Tang Priest will call each other "patroness", which is also in line with his monk style. If he wants to ask someone for help not for a meal, but for personal needs, it is not appropriate to call him a "patroness", but often a "bodhisattva".

In fact, regardless of TV series or novels, there are essential differences between patroness and bodhisattva in real life. The "patron saint" is a charitable person, and the "bodhisattva" refers to the Buddha, but it is obvious that the "bodhisattva" is synonymous with good people in the original work. In order to achieve good artistic effects, the TV series has got two different names, perhaps because the "patron saint" is more grounded and more suitable for addressing those good women. Suitable for those female characters with strong gas field. Some people say that the Tang Priest is called a "Bodhisattva" when he sees a beautiful woman, and the average woman is called a "benefactor", but this is also a joke.
