The word "Mu" in Taimu Mountain is a polyphonic word, and it is pronounced as m D when the name of the mountain is built.

Taimu Mountain is located in the northeast of Fujian Province. In a narrow sense, Taimu Mountain refers to the mountainous area centered on Fuding Peak in Qinyu Town, southern fuding city, and it is also the core area of Taimu Mountain Scenic Area. It is 45 kilometers south of Fuding, with east longitude 120 degrees and north latitude of about 27 degrees. Standing on the coast of the East China Sea, there are three seas and one mountain.

The main peak is 917.3m above sea level. In a broad sense, Taimu Mountain refers to a series of mountains distributed between the east of northeast Jiaoxi in Ningde City and the East China Sea, or called Taimu Mountain Range.

According to legend, when Yao was an old mother, she planted blue in the mountains (blue grass, its juice was blue, and the squeezed dyed cloth dyed silk). She became immortal when she met a Taoist priest, so she named it "Tai Lao Mu" and later renamed it "Tai Lao Mu". Legend has it that the immortals of the East China Sea gather here all the year round, so it has the reputation of "the fairy capital of the sea". Wuyi, Taimu and Yandang constitute three famous mountains in Fujian and Vietnam.

Taimu Mountain is the watershed of Jiaoxi, Fuding and Xiapu counties, all streams that flow into the sea alone. These mountains are mainly composed of Mesozoic volcanic rocks and granite. The minerals contained in the mountains are mainly lead, zinc, silver, cadmium, alunite, quartzite, kaolin and basalt. The forest coverage rate is over 46%.
