Dinghui Temple

According to the "Continued Biography of Monks" written by the Taoist in the Tang Dynasty, in November of the eleventh year of Emperor Kai of Sui Dynasty, the King of Jin (later) set up a thousand monks' Zhai in Jincheng Hall of Yangzhou and invited Master Zhiyi, the actual founder of Tiantai Sect, to dinner. Master Zhiyi was invited to Yangzhou to bestow the Bodhisattva amulet. After Rugao, it was found to be a treasure.

In the Song Dynasty, Dinghui Temple was destroyed by war and fire, leaving only broken walls. Jinshi in Song and Yuan Dynasties: Shi Sheng, the former magistrate of Rugao County, wrote a poem "Mourning Dinghui Temple";

The name of the temple is Zhi Dai, and the ancient monument of the bridge does not remember the year;

The old trees cry at night, and the new disc dances in the garden with spring smoke.

The seven-story pagoda turns into a road, and the five colors disappear in the sky;

Only the water in the jade lotus pond, the old dragon sleeps in the depths of the turbulent waves.

The existing main building of Dinghui Temple was rebuilt during the Wanli period of Ming Dynasty. At that time, a monk named Su Fang came to Dinghui Temple with two disciples, Xing Gan and Xing De, and lived for a period of time after a little renovation. Sex cadres are determined to repair Dinghui Temple. In order to raise money, he baked his ankle with an oil lamp and wrapped an iron rope around his chest to raise money from the public. Kindhearted men and women were deeply moved and donated money one after another. In the 30th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (AD 1607), the temple was rebuilt. Soon, the hall was completed. The sex worker also vowed to carve Buddha statues with sandalwood overseas. So he likes to travel to the south. Later, a 10-foot-long sandalwood colossus was obtained from a merchant ship returning from overseas in Yulin House (now Yulin City, Guangxi) and carved into a Buddha statue on the spot. In the 43rd year of Wanli (Wu Gong 16 15), the Buddha statue arrived in Rugao and was placed in the main hall. During this period, Master Zhan Ming in the temple raised funds to build the Bell and Drum Tower, Master Maronite raised funds to build the Buddhist Scripture Building, and Master Linde went to Jiahe (now Jiaxing, Zhejiang) to buy the Buddhist Scripture Building.
