Qin 'an County is located in the southeast of Gansu Province, north of Tianshui City, and downstream of Hulu River, a tributary of Weihe River. Qin 'an County is located in the inland of the Loess Plateau, and its landform features reflect typical loess beams, gullies and valleys. The county is about 65 kilometers long from east to west and 50 kilometers wide from north to south, with a total area of 160 1 square kilometer.

It is one of the eighteen arid counties in Gansu Province.
