Mudu belongs to Wuzhong District, Suzhou, and the ancient town of Mudu is located in the west of Suzhou, on the shore of Taihu Lake. It borders the southwest suburb of Suzhou in the east, Hengjing Town and yuexi town in the south, Xukou Town and Cang Shu Town in the west, Qiao Feng Town and Suzhou National High-tech Development Zone in the north. Suzhou 12km to the east, Wuxian New District 10km to Shanghai Hongqiao Airport, 8km to Guangfu Airport in the west, 50km to Wuxi in the northwest and 70km to Zhangjiagang Wharf in the north. It is the transportation hub of towns and scenic spots in the southwest of Wuxian City.

Mudu Town belongs to Wuzhong District, Suzhou City, located 5 kilometers west of Suzhou City, on the shore of Taihu Lake and at the foot of Lingyan Mountain, with an area of 74.59 square kilometers. According to legend, at the end of the Spring and Autumn Period, wuyue disputed and Yue was defeated. Gou Jian, the king of Yue, presented beauty to the king of Wu with a "honey trap". Fu Cha, the prince of Wu, is the special favor of Shi. He specially built a pavilion and a baby palace for her at the top of Lingyan Mountain in Yixiu, and a Gusutai on Zishi Mountain. Ming and Qing Dynasties were one of the six towns in Wuxian County. During the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty, Mudu Ancient Town belonged to Changshou Township, Wuxian County. It has always been the residence of grassroots political power.
