What is the folklore about "standing chopsticks"

In rural China, especially 20 years ago, there was a folk custom. If someone in the family, especially a child, suddenly falls ill and has any internal injuries, such as nonsense, adults will take a porcelain bowl filled with water, then take a pair of chopsticks and stand side by side in the water bowl. When standing, they will say the names of their dead relatives or people they know nearby. If they stand, they will take a kitchen knife and cut off chopsticks, and pour them on the road with water and chopsticks to sharply abuse or discuss it. Patients at home may be cured in a day. In fact, chopsticks can stand in a water bowl in physics, which is superstition.
