Pulse diagnosis history

Pulse diagnosis has a long history in China, which is a summary of the long-term medical practice of ancient doctors in China. Bian Que, a famous doctor in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period recorded in Historical Records, is famous all over the world for his methods of looking, smelling, asking and feeling, especially for feeling the pulse. Sima Qian, the author of Historical Records, even said: "Today, Bian Que is the one who takes the pulse for the world." He attributed the invention of ancient pulse diagnosis in China entirely to Bian Que, which is inaccurate. According to historical records, the origin of pulse diagnosis in China is very old. For example, the legendary ancient doctor discussed pulse diagnosis with ghost area during the borrowing season. By the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, pulse diagnosis had reached a considerable level. At that time, the important medical works Huangdi Neijing and later Difficult Classics all discussed pulse diagnosis in many details. 1973 The silk medical literature "Pulse Method" and "Yin and Yang Pulse Syndrome" unearthed in Mawangdui No.3 Han Tomb in Changsha, Hunan Province are also valuable materials for judging diseases through pulse diagnosis. All these indicate that pulse science has become an important part of ancient medicine in China more than two thousand years ago tomorrow.

In the Han Dynasty, pulse diagnosis became more common. Chunyu Kun, another famous doctor recorded in Historical Records (also called, about 205-? ) He studied pulse diagnosis with Yang Qing, a successful teacher, for three years, and accepted Bian Que Pulse Book handed to him by Yang Qing. It can be seen from Chunyu Kun's Medical Records recorded in Historical Records that he should feel his pulse before seeing a doctor. In Treatise on Febrile Diseases written by Zhang Zhongjing, a famous doctor in the Eastern Han Dynasty, it can be seen that pulse diagnosis has been widely used in clinic and has been further developed and improved. Wang Shuhe, a famous doctor in Jin Dynasty, synthesized the knowledge and experience of pre-networking, and wrote Pulse Classic, which became the earliest extant monograph on pulse science in China. The book divides the pulse condition into 24 kinds, explains each kind of pulse condition, and describes various pulse-cutting methods and pulse conditions of various miscellaneous diseases, and further combines pulse diagnosis with symptoms, making pulse science a more practical knowledge. Since then, China's ancient works on pulse science have been increasing. Many famous doctors are proficient in pulse science. For example, in the Ming Dynasty, Li Shizhen also made an in-depth study of pulse science, and wrote the book Pulse Science on the Lake (A.D. 1564). According to incomplete statistics, before the Qing Dynasty, there were more than 100 works on pulse science. Although there is repetition, it still reflects the development of ancient pulse science in China to varying degrees.
