# Day 6 Heuristic Bias and Barnum Effect

When we were talking about constellations last night, we said that I felt that there were some similarities between the constellations you guessed. You immediately responded that you also have it. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. This reminds me of a concept I have come into contact with before-heuristic prejudice.

Enlightening prejudice, in short, is that when a concept is thrown from the outside, our minds will naturally immediately look for facts that are consistent or similar to it, and connect their own facts with descriptions, thus completing self-proof and thinking that the concept is correct.

This technique is particularly common and practical in fortune telling.

Fortune tellers usually throw out a general and vague description first, and our minds will immediately look for the facts that match it. Because the mind is a subconscious reaction, it is difficult to be perceived by your own consciousness. Then, the consciousness will think that this description is correct and that the fortune teller is very clever.

In addition, it is generally believed that a general description of personality can reveal one's own characteristics very accurately. Even if this description is empty, people still think it can truly reflect their own personality, which is called Barnum effect in psychology.

Of course, heuristic prejudice and Barnum effect are both part of human nature. Human nature is a science, and there is no distinction between good and bad.

What you and I need to do is to get to know them, accept them and make good use of them.

For example, for yourself or your loved ones, you can use some positive descriptions and appreciative descriptions to form benign guidance and positive energy. And the darker part, I won't say, hahahahahahahaha, A-mei, we are all good children.

Pay more: A good boy must know more and be stronger than a bad boy in order to continue to be a good boy.
