Relationship between placental thickness during pregnancy

The thickness of fetal basin is between 25-50 mm. Normal range of placental thickness

Normal B-ultrasound placenta thickness is 3.6-3.8 cm, generally not more than 5 cm. Membranous placenta is characterized by large and thin placenta area, which is easy to bleed in the second trimester. If it is a small placenta, it will lead to intrauterine growth retardation and full-term low birth weight infants.

Measurement method of placental thickness

Placental thickness can be measured by ultrasound. Normal full-term placenta thickness is about 36~38mm, generally not more than 50 mm, so it is of little significance for us to judge the gestational age through placenta search engine. There are various conditions that will determine the thickness of the placenta, because in the case of intrauterine infection and hemolysis, the placenta will become thicker due to edema.

Matters needing attention

When we are pregnant, we don't care about the thickness of the placenta, as long as we are healthy and the placenta is normal. Generally, it has little to do with gestational age, so don't worry too much.
