After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he participated in the first national opera viewing and performance conference, co-starred with Yang Youhe in Qiu Jiang and won the first prize as an actor. 1953 Participated in a condolence delegation to the DPRK and gave performances such as Yingxian Store. 1954 "Qiu Jiang" in the film "Sichuan Opera Highlights" co-produced with Chen Shufang. 1980, 69-year-old Zhou Qihe went to Hong Kong and Sichuan Sichuan Theatre to perform. In addition to acting as deputy director and art consultant, he also performed his masterpiece Yingxian Store, which won unanimous praise from compatriots in Hong Kong and Macao.

In his early years, under the small influence, he developed a good habit of reading and enjoying painting in his contacts with famous painters such as Zhang Daqian, Xu Beihong, Feng, etc. He talked about painting and drama, inspired each other, and introduced the theory of painting into the theory of drama, learning from others' strengths and eclecticism. He is famous for his vivid and delicate performances and vivid characterization, and gradually formed a unique lyric and freehand brushwork style. For example, Weng Ying in Qiu Jiang, Doctor Wen in Painting Plum Blossoms, Seeking a Doctor, Shopkeeper in Yingxian Store, Liu in Chai's Sacrifice, and Ning Xin in Jade Crab.

Because Zhou Qihe joined Sichuan Opera, he was elected as a representative of Chongqing Municipal People's Congress, a member of Chongqing CPPCC, a member of Chengdu CPPCC, and a member of the Standing Committee of Sichuan CPPCC.
