Nanjing Jiming Temple is an ancient temple with a thousand-year-old incense, and it is also a must-visit place for many citizens and foreign tourists. Here, you can feel the grace and efficacy of the Buddha, and many people come to pray for a beautiful marriage. So, is the marriage in Jiming Temple valid?
Guide to praying and worshipping Buddha in Jiming Temple
After entering the temple, you can see the nuns in twos and threes are busy. If you have questions, you can consult (including Buddhist questions). At the same time, there will be conspicuous incense burning route signs in the temple. You can observe the scenery in the temple while following the road signs.
Quietly, there is no noise except the Zen sound that has been playing. Once I enter here, I really feel far away from worldly troubles, and my whole heart is peaceful. Business is not heavy, there are no messy things to sell, there are not many merit boxes, only a place to burn incense. Let's talk about this later.
There are about four or five places to worship Buddha. There is no need to pay money or order incense, but please note that their futon is too close to the merit box in front. Be careful when kowtowing. A 6-foot-8 man like me is bound to meet you. Commemorate. I worshipped every Buddha along the way. Hehe, I ask too much of the Buddha. You don't have to worship. Finally, there will be a place to worship incense, which can be completed at one time.
In an ancient temple (I forget the specific name, it is the only way), lanterns can be hung on the trees on both sides of the entrance to pray. 10 yuan, these two trees are already dense.
There are many steps. After thousands of years of trampling by tourists, it has become very slippery. Be careful when you walk, especially when it rains, and your partner almost slips.
Finally, the place to worship incense is also the end of the trip to Jiming Temple. After going up the steps, there is a big incense burner on the right and a small pavilion next to it. This is a place to burn incense. The pavilion is surrounded by red lotus, and a red candle is lit in the center of the lotus. I found the incense with the biggest flame. There is a huge mural on the right wall of the pavilion door, with a little bit on it.
After worshipping incense, it is a Baiwei Zhai, which is not expensive and relatively affordable. I didn't eat because I wasn't hungry, and I don't know how it tasted. It seems that they are all vegetarians. Free fast food will be provided on Monday.
After fasting, go out and turn right, which is the exit of the temple, and this journey is over. The whole journey takes about 60-90 minutes.
Matters needing attention in Jiming Temple
1, you need to buy a ticket to enter the temple, and it must be cash.
There are many palmists and fortune tellers at the door. You can choose freely according to your personal preference.
3. The place to burn incense is on the last side, which is a little far. Be sure to protect the three incense sticks you sent, and don't break them!
The steps are slippery, so be careful.
5. Don't take photos in temples or towers. Be careful when kowtowing.
6. Do not smoke, make noise, wear hats or sunglasses (except myopia glasses), and put an end to all uncivilized, impolite and ungodly behaviors.
Brief introduction of Jiming Temple
Jiming Temple, also known as the ancient Jiming Temple, is located on Lushan Mountain in Jilong, Xuanwu District, Nanjing. It was built in the Western Jin Dynasty and is one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Nanjing. Since ancient times, it has been known as the "First Temple in the Southern Dynasties" and "480 Temple in the Southern Dynasties". During the Southern Dynasties, it was the center of Buddhism in China.
In 387 (the twentieth year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty), Zhu Yuanzhang, the emperor of Ming Dynasty, ordered the demolition of old houses, expansion of scale and reconstruction of temples. The name of Zhu Yuanzhang's country is "Jiming Temple". After the expansion of Xuande, Chenghua and Hongzhi in Ming Dynasty, the courtyard was large, covering an area of 100 mu. Later, the ancient temple was destroyed by war during the Xianfeng period. Although it was rebuilt in Tongzhi, the scale has been greatly reduced, but the incense has been flourishing.
1958, changed to Zhong Ni Dojo. From 1983, under the leadership of the original abbot Zong Cheng, Jiming Temple was gradually restored and opened to the outside world. According to the scale and shape of Ming and Qing Dynasties, Jiming Temple has become an important temple in Nanjing.
Brief introduction of Jiming Temple
Depart from the presidential palace at noon and drive by yourself. The traffic in Nanjing is not congested and smooth, but it is recommended to take the subway. Because parking is too inconvenient, you can go straight by subway line 3.
I was shocked when I arrived at Jiming Temple. In this reinforced concrete city, he is a unique existence, aloof and vicissitudes, a historical memory and a praise for the protection of historical sites. Unfortunately, there are really few such examples in the country.
Before you get to Jiming Temple, you will come to a fork in the road. In the center of the intersection is a memorial archway, which is very simple, with only four words:-Gujiming Temple.
Go north from the archway (it should be north because I seem to have fallen). About 100 meters later, the gate of Jiming Temple appeared in front of us. It was very simple.
I don't know why, although it is the weekend, there are not many tourists. Maybe it's because of the rain. You need to buy a ticket to enter Jiming Temple. I was going to buy it directly online, but I couldn't find it for a long time, so I had to go to the ticket office, which is on the left side of the gate. The conductor is a nun and her manners are very Buddhist.
Tickets are very cheap, one for 10 yuan and three incense sticks for you at the same time. But there is a self-evident rule that you can only buy it in cash. You can go to a nearby place where drinks are sold to exchange cash, or you can ask other tourists for help.
I forgot to mention that there are many palm readers and fortune tellers in front of the temple. I was dragged around by four or five people, but I refused. I'm helpless. Of course, it still depends on personal preference. You can try it if you like. The price is unknown.
