Dong Fan is one of the most controversial economists in China academic circles because of his clear-cut views, outspoken views and outstanding personality. He was once known as "national policy expert", "Peng in academic circles", "one of the four young and middle-aged economists who influenced the development of China", "the most accurate fortune teller in the real estate market", "the leader of public opinion in China" and "one of the four famous real estate experts in China".
