Therefore, the current abbot of Longhua Temple is Master Zhao Cheng. Longhua Temple is the oldest and largest ancient temple in Shanghai, with a history of 1700 years. The name of the temple comes from the story of Maitreya Bodhisattva becoming a Buddha under Longhua tree in Buddhist scriptures.
