Fortune-telling in Rongxian dialect

Cantonese originated from Yayan (the mother tongue of the Han nationality) in the northern Central Plains, and spread to Guangdong and Guangxi during the Qin and Han Dynasties. It was a dialect produced by the fusion with the local ancient Vietnamese. There was no separation between Guangdong and Guangxi before the Northern Song Dynasty, so both places spoke Cantonese, and it was not until the Song Dynasty that they were divided into two provinces.

Although Rongxian dialect in Guangxi is defined as vernacular, in ancient times Rongxian was the main road of land communication between the Central Plains and Lingnan areas, and it was also the throat of language. Many pronunciations of Cantonese are the same as those of Rongxian dialect, with the same meaning. After the development of Cantonese, people in Rongxian can understand Cantonese everywhere, and they can also understand most obscure Yulin dialect and Hakka dialect. There were few Turks in Guangdong at that time, and they were assimilated by the then (Zhao Tuo) king. This can be found in places where Guangdong is the mother tongue (Heyuan City, Longchuan County and Tuocheng). At that time (South Vietnamese Mandarin) was the most spoken by Cantonese today (Hakka dialect).
