Does Yushan dialect belong to Jiangxi or Wu family?

Throughout Jiangxi province, Jiangxi people from south to north can probably understand what they say, but Guangfeng dialect is the most difficult to understand. Guangfeng dialect is very difficult for Jiangxi people (except Yushan), even Shangrao people who are close at hand find it impossible to communicate, let alone Nanchang people.

What is the reason?

China has eight major language families: Northern Dialect, Wu Dialect, Cantonese, Hakka Dialect, Minnan Dialect, Northern Fujian Dialect, Hunan Dialect and Gan Dialect!

Except for Hakka dialect spoken in a few areas in southern Jiangxi, all Jiangxi people speak Gan dialect, one of the eight major Chinese language families in China.

Guangfeng dialect spoken by 770,000 people in Guangfeng County belongs to the authentic Wu language family and belongs to two different dialect systems from Gan dialect.

Wu dialect includes Shanghai, parts of Changzhou in southern Jiangsu, Wuxi, Suzhou and Huzhou in Zhejiang, Shaoxing, Jiaxing, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Taizhou, Jinhua and Quzhou, parts of Yushan in Jiangxi and the whole county of Guangfeng!

Yushan dialect has been assimilated by Gan dialect. Many dialects are mixed with Jiangxi dialect and Mandarin, while Guangfeng dialect is very pure and has not been influenced by Gan dialect!

To understand Guangfeng, we need to know the unique Guangfeng dialect. The same dialect means relatives. Many of my Zhejiang brothers have always regarded me as a fellow villager because of the similarity of dialects. Some people say that Guangfeng, like Zhejiang people, can bear hardships and have brains. In fact, Guangfeng and Zhejiang are already a family in language!

Guangfeng people always feel deja vu when they go to these places. When Guangfeng people began to speak in the north, people said they were from Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai. Compared with people from other dialects, it is easier for Guangfeng to learn Shanghainese.
