Classic repertoire of Yue Opera

Romance of the West Chamber is a famous repertoire of Yue Opera, one of the four classic repertoires of Yue Opera, one of the reserved repertoires of Shanghai Yue Theatre and a classic repertoire of Hua Xiaobai Yue Opera Troupe in Zhejiang. This play is based on The West Chamber written by Wang Shifu in Yuan Dynasty. It tells the story that the literati between Tang Zhenyuan and Yingying, the daughter of the late Cui, met and fell in love at Pujiu Temple.

It eulogized the pure love of Yingying and Zhang Xun and the rebellious spirit of breaking away from the shackles of feudal ethics. This is a typical China opera, a poetic musical, and many famous aria have become the classic aria of Yue Opera, which makes people never tire of listening to it.

2. Sister Xianglin

This Yue Opera Sister Xianglin is adapted from Lu Xun's Blessing.

The play was performed by the Student Union 1946, directed by Nan Wei and starring Yuan Xuefen. This is regarded as a milestone in the reform of Yue Opera in the 1940s. 1962, the drama underwent a major artistic processing, with the structure changed from the stage system to the stage system, and the music was arranged by Ruzeng Liu, which further utilized the functions of singing, reading and acting of the opera and further embodied the spirit of the original work.

3. A Dream of Red Mansions

A Dream of Red Mansions, adapted from the classic literary masterpiece of the same name, is definitely a classic Yue Opera that can't be missed when enjoying the famous sections of Yue Opera. The story is the familiar tragic love between Jia Baoyu and Lin Daiyu.

4. He Wenxiu

He Wenxiu is one of the most famous plays of Yue Opera. It tells the story that during Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty, "Yan Party" exclusively killed He Zhong, assistant minister of Ritual Department, and his son He Wenxiu and his wife ran away from home overnight. They were framed by Zhang Tang, a bully in Haining. Three years later, they got away with it and became the No.1, He Wenxiu, and avenged themselves.

Judging from the plot, there is no escape from the stereotype that "the children in trouble are in the garden, and the golden list is happy", but it still involves the dispute between good and evil. Among them, "Visiting Wife in Sangyuan" and "Crying Card for Fortune Telling" are really unique and can be called "old play bones", which are often staged and deeply loved by the audience.

5. Hosta

Hosta is a classic segment of Yue Opera and one of Jin Caifeng's representative works. In 1980s, Hong Kong Yisheng Company released the CD of "Farewell to the Rockhopper" sung by Xiao and Xing, and the CD of "Hosta" released and sung by Marisa Company in Hong Kong.

Although the adapted Jade Hairpin is ridiculed as a cliche of "winning the first prize in the middle school" and "happy reunion", it has become an important repertoire of Yue Opera, which is often performed for a long time and often used for solo performance and teaching.
