The Story of Daoling in Zhang Tianshi

Zhang Daoling was the founder of Taoism in the Eastern Han Dynasty. His name was Zhang Tianshi. Zhang Tianshi in China, can be said to be a household name, known to all women and children.

Zhang Daoling, a native of Fengxian County (now Fengxian County, Jiangsu Province), was a student in imperial academy. He is knowledgeable and has a reputation. So, he decided to travel far and seek the way of longevity. Before he left, he said goodbye to all his disciples. A disciple named Wang Chang is willing to go with him. So he dismissed other students and left his hometown with Wang Chang.

Master and apprentice traveled all over the famous mountains and rivers, and successively practiced monasticism in Luoyang Beimang Mountain and Jiangxi Yunjinshan Mountain. When they lived in Yunjin Mountain, Zhang Daoling found a different book on the rock. He practiced "Dragon and Tiger Pills" according to the instructions in the book. By the time it was refined for a year, the room was full of red light. In the second year of refining, there are five-color clouds covering the tripod; In the third year of refining, the elixir was finally refined. Yi Long, a white tiger appeared in the air to protect him, and Zhang Daoling became a fairy.

Later, Zhang Daoling's descendants renamed Yunjin Mountain Longhu Mountain (now Longhu Mountain in Jiangxi), and there are still relics such as Tibetan Scriptures and alchemy platforms in the mountain.

After Dan Cheng, the two men went to visit Taoism in Songshan, Henan, and lived there for several years. One day, an emissary in white descended from the sky and told Zhang Daoling, "There is a stone chamber in the peak of Songshan Mountain, which contains the characters of Huang San and the single crystal of Huangdi Jiuding. Those who practice according to law can become immortals immediately. " Zhang Daoling walked into the stone at the foot of Shi Zhuan and made an "empty" sound. He followed the sound, opened the Shi Zhuan and found the hidden Dan book.

Since then, Zhang Daoling's Daoism has been improved and improved, with all kinds of miraculous effects. With superb Taoism, he now has the lofty ideal of "educating the people"

He heard that there are many famous mountains in Sichuan, which have been gathering places for immortals and real people since ancient times. Coupled with the simple folk customs and good education, he decided to go south to Sichuan.

One day, Zhang Daoling came to the foot of a mountain. I saw the mountains surrounded by water on three sides, and the two streams met, and the mountains fluctuated, just like a crane floating in the clouds. Only after asking did I know that this mountain is called Heming Mountain, which was transformed by a thousand-year-old crane. There is also a stone crane on the mountain. The fairy sings every time she enters the mountain. Zhang Daoling knows that this is the treasure house of Lingshan, and plans to look forward to it here for a long time. On the night of his first stay, the stone crane made a long sound, soft and beautiful, melodious, and the sound spread to hundreds of miles.

While studying Taoism, Zhang Daoling understood the people's feelings in Shu. In the third year of Hemingshan, his magic pill was refined. Looking at the dazzling God Dan, Zhang Daoling thought: If I want to become an immortal, I can do it now. But people who cultivate immortality. We should also care about the sufferings of the people and benefit the society. So he decided to stay in Sichuan and educate the people.

On the night of the 15th day of the first month, Taishang Laojun led the immortals to heming. Zhang Daoling looked at the fragrant flowers everywhere, listened to the firecrackers of Yue Xian, and turned over and bowed down. Grandpa Laojun asked his disciples to take out three volumes of scriptures and give them to Zhang Daoling, and formally appointed him Shi Tian to save the suffering people.

After being taught by the old gentleman, Zhang Daoling's teachings have improved greatly, and he was able to collect medicines to treat diseases. These medicinal materials can be collected in Shushan, which is very convenient to teach. At that time, there were tens of thousands of old ladies who came to learn from their teachers. Zhang Daoling organized them, made laws, assigned responsibilities, taught them truth, and persuaded them to do good, thus slowly establishing a Taoist group, and Zhang Daoling himself became the founder of Taoism.

On September 9th, the first year of Yongshou in the Eastern Han Dynasty, in Quting Mountain, Chicheng, Sichuan, an Oracle brought a jade book and named Zhang Daoling as a real person. Before he ascended the throne, he asked his eldest son to inherit his leadership, told him to exorcise evil spirits and help the country and people, and an heir would inherit his leadership from generation to generation. After receiving instructions, Zhang Daoling and his disciples Wang Chang and Zhao Sheng ascended to heaven, and the Taoism founded by them has been spread among the people to this day. Because he stipulated that the disciples should pay five dou meters, it was also called "five meters of beans".
