Why is there no incense in Lingyin Temple in Huokeji?

Both temples are located under the North Peak. Lingyin Temple in the south is visited by pilgrims all the year round, while Hokkeji in the north is little known.

The main reason is that the legend of Lingyin Temple is widely spread and well known by the broad masses of the people.

Lingyin Temple Tongzhi records that Lingyin Temple was built by Indian monks and later extended by Liang Wudi in the Southern Dynasties. Qian Liu, the king of Wu Yueguo in the Five Dynasties, ordered Master Yongming to be reborn and named Lingyin New Temple, which was also sealed by the emperor.

Later, during the years of Jiading in Song Ningzong, Lingyin Temple experienced various legends. In the Song Dynasty, Yue Fei, the most famous of a generation of great men, was buried near Yuxi Lake. Now there is Wang Yue Temple near the West Lake, and the four characters Zhongjun come into view.

Another most famous legend is the legend of the white snake. I believe everyone is familiar with White Snake and Xu Xian. They met on the broken bridge of the West Lake, and finally the white snake was suppressed by Fahai under the Leifeng Tower opposite Lingyin Temple. Lingyin Temple, after years of evolution, is now known as one of the "Five Mountains" of Zen in the south of the Yangtze River.

During the reign of Shunzhi in Qing Dynasty, the abbot of Lingyin, a Zen master, raised funds for reconstruction. It took 18 years to build the temple, and its scale jumped to the top of the southeast. In the 28th year of Emperor Kangxi in Qing Dynasty (1689), Emperor Kangxi was given the name "Yunlin Temple" when he visited the south.

1985' s TV series "Jigong Monk" makes Lingyin Temple well known to TV viewers, so it is more fragrant than Hokkeji.
