Carmen's plot outline

The story took place in Seville, Spain in 1860. Carmen, a beautiful and stubborn gypsy girl, met Don Jose, the squad leader of cavalry, in a fight with other female workers. Don Jose, who wanted to arrest Carmen, was attracted by her wild beauty and unruly temperament. She not only let Carmen go, but also fell in love with her. Under the temptation of Carmen, Don Jose joined Carmen's gypsy smuggler and lived a wandering life with Carmen. But it didn't last long. Carmen later fell in love with the high-spirited matador Ace Camiro. Don Jose begged her to change her mind, but Carmen refused. Don Jose tried to stop Carmen from finding her new lover. Carmen can't stand it. She took off the ring that Don Jose gave her and threw it on the ground. Don Jose stabbed Carmen with a dagger hidden in his body, and then confessed his crime.

Corporal Morales and a group of soldiers watched people coming and going in the street and found a country girl. She comes from Nabal and her name is Michela. She's here to see Corporal Don Jose. She inquired about Morales and learned that Don Jose would change his job soon. The bugle sounded in the distance and the soldiers changed their positions. Morales told Don Jose that a girl had come to see him. Zunica Zhongwei, commander of the new Wache Guard, asked Don Jose about him.

The lunch bell of the nearby cigarette factory rang, and the crowd in Seville surrounded the female workers coming out of the cigarette factory. Men surround Carmen, and Carmen tells them that love never follows any rules. Among these people, only Don Jose is not interested in Carmen. When the women workers returned to the factory, people dispersed with them. Michelle came back here, found Don Jose and gave him a letter from his mother. Don Jose feels that his mother has been protecting him from a distance. Then, he began to read the letter, which mentioned the marriage between Don Jose and Michela, and Michela ran away shyly. Don Jose intends to follow his mother's instructions. Just then, there was noise from the factory. Carmen and her workmates fought and hurt each other. Then Carmen was brought out by Don Jose, but she refused to be questioned by Zunika. Zunica then ordered Don Jose to put Carmen in prison. While in prison, Carmen began to seduce Don Jose and promised to date and dance with him at the Anabel Spasia Bar near the walls of Seville. In Crazy Love, Don Jose lets Carmen go.

Carmen and her two female companions, Frescata and Mercedes, are entertaining Zunika and other soldiers. Amid cheers, the bullfighter Ace Camiro took to the stage in high spirits, telling about the wonderful bullfighting and its popularity after winning. Ace Camiro flirted with Carmen, but Carmen refused because she had a sweetheart. Ace Camiro said he could wait for her.

After everyone left, smugglers Dan Carlo and remand duo came on stage, and their smuggling business needed the participation of several women. Frescata and Mercedes agreed, but Carmen didn't want to leave Seville because she was in love. Don Jose's song came and the smuggler left. Carmen instigated Don Jose to say that she had just danced for other soldiers. Don Jose was jealous, so Carmen danced for him. When the horn sounded, Don Jose said he had to go back to the barracks. Carmen lost her temper and made fun of Don Jose. Don Jose took the flowers Carmen threw him from his arms and told Carmen how much he missed her in prison. Carmen was unmoved. She asked Don Jose to be a deserter and join the gypsies, so as to look forward to a free life. Hesitant Don Jose finally rejected Carmen, and Carmen spurned Don Jose for it. He was about to leave when he bumped into Zunica, the boss who came to pursue Carmen. The jealous Don Jose made a mistake and hit Zunica. Now, Don Jose can't go back to the army anymore, so he can only sneak with the gypsies. Smugglers brought smuggled guns into the stadium, ready to take a nap, just as Dan Carroll and remand duo were preparing to investigate nearby. Carmen and Don Jose quarreled. Gypsy girls used cards to tell their fortune. The cards of Fresk Tower and Mercedes all indicated that they would find rich and brave lovers, while the cards of Carmen and Don Jose suggested danger.

Dan Carroll and remand came back from reconnaissance and told everyone that soldiers were guarding the checkpoint. Everyone was about to leave when Michela walked onto the stage under the guidance of a mountaineering guide. What she fears most is to see a woman who leads her sweetheart astray. Just then, she heard a gunshot and hid in panic. The shooter was Don Jose, and the intruder he hit was actually Ace Camiro. After knowing each other's identity, the two men fought because of jealousy. Everyone came to the rescue. Ace Camiro invited everyone present, especially Carmen, to watch his next bullfight in Seville. Michela was discovered. She advised Don Jose to go home, but he wouldn't listen. Michela had to tell her that her mother was very ill. Don Jose was willing to go down the mountain, but when he left, he promised Carmen that they would meet again. There is a group of people outside the competition. Frescata and Mercedes remind Carmen that Don Jose is here, so that she can be more vigilant. Carmen said she was fearless. Don Jose came on stage, stood in Carmen's way and begged her to change her mind. Carmen turned him down calmly. She told Don Jose that it was over between them and she would not compromise. She was born free and will not give up her freedom even if she dies.

The audience cheered loudly for Ace Camiro, and Don Jose tried to stop Carmen from looking for her new lover. Carmen can't stand it. She took off the ring that Don Jose gave her and threw it on the ground. Don Jose stabbed Carmen with a dagger hidden in his body, and then confessed his crime.
