Eighteen Houses in Yashao, Yangjiang, Guangdong: A cattle dealer in Qing Dynasty won nine big houses in a bet, which is now the online celebrity village.

Yashao 18 is located in Xiyuan Village, Yashao Town, Yangdong County, Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province. It was built during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty and has a history of more than 250 years. There was a folk song sung in Yangjiang a long time ago: "Ya Shao Tan Dachang, Li Gangmei Weiyang, Shang Yang Yao Shoumian and Weaving Department He Wugong are all rich in Yangjiang." Yashao Tan Dachang, a folk singer, is a descendant of Tan Chaozuo, the ancestor of the 18th ancient village. As can be seen from the ballads, the eighteen ancient villages of that year were outstanding and very beautiful.

After hearing this widely circulated folk song, I quickly arranged a recent visit and filming. When I arrived at the 18th floor of Yashao, I saw that it was as written in the ballad, especially the divine perspective of aerial photography by drones. There is a well-preserved big house with a history of 200 years. The main layout of the village is like two words side by side, forming a very regular roadway. In the lane, two rows of houses face east and west, and the pattern of each room is exactly the same. From here, we can see what the scenery of 18 Yashao buildings is!

Xiyuan Village, located in Yashao Town, Yangdong County, is a small mountain village with lush trees and abundant rivers. In this small village far away from the town, 18 villages in Yashao are built on the mountain, with high and low levels, reasonable layout, rigorous structure and quite distinctive features.

Throughout the whole ancient architectural complex, uniform houses, exquisite carving design and rigorous architectural pattern make people feel the wisdom of the ancients.

Ancient architecture is the witness of history and the memory of culture. Visiting 18 Yashao Building, the ancient courtyard gate, mottled walls, towering ancestral halls, century-old trees, silent Gu Xiang and moss-covered deep houses are all quietly telling the glory and glory here. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, it seems to be a spiritual "Xanadu".

We went in and saw that there was a dome-shaped wall on the top of the gable of each house, which rose like a bell. After years of erosion, some bells no longer exist. On the remaining wall, you can also see several lifelike dragon and phoenix sunrise reliefs, which are full of energy. In addition to adding grandeur, they are also used for fire prevention. In case the house next to them catches fire, the flame can't jump on the tile surface of the house next door.

Through an alley in the west gate, string together 18 high-walled ancient houses on both sides of Yashao. Bluestone pavement, white walls and gray tiles, an inconspicuous and simple alley, hiding the old house of the Qing Dynasty with a history of more than 200 years. Although it has been a long time, the scale and style of the past are still faintly visible.

Why is it called eighteen? With this question, I asked the old people in the village. The old man told us that there is another story about the origin of this 18 Yashao building. There is a story circulating in Xiyuan Village:

This story sounds amazing today: about 250 years ago, there was a man named Tan Wei in Xiyuan Village. Tan said he was good at selling cattle. It is said that other cattle dealers had rinderpest at that time, and many of them died of illness. Tan Wei's cattle also had rinderpest, but after he drove them to a long pond outside the village to soak them, they miraculously recovered. What is the reason? Where are the cows in Tan Wei? No one has made it clear so far. Because all his cows are alive, Tan said he made a lot of money.

After making money, ordinary people will consider camping and building their own happy homes. Tan Wei thinks so, too. Then they will go to town with their partners to buy wood.

Tan said that he usually dresses casually and looks like a man at first glance. When he asked the owner of a wood shop about the price, the boss gave him a contemptuous look and said, "That kind of wood is expensive, you can't afford it." Tan Wei said, "What if I can afford it?" The timber boss said, "If you can afford it, I'll buy one and get one free. If you build a house, I will give you a set. " Tan Wei bought wood for nine houses at once, and the wood boss really kept his promise and gave Tan Wei nine houses. This is the origin of the "Eighteen Mountains".

Only five or six families live here all the year round. Most of them are old people who are over half a century old and are used to life here. Even if the children want to take them to live in the city, the old people are unwilling. In their words, I used to live a quiet life, but when I went to the city, I couldn't adapt.

The old people in the village are warm and kind. When they saw our arrival, they immediately cooked local snacks for us in the yard at home. Unfortunately, because of time, they didn't taste their own fat sausage and water cake.

Now we see 36 ancient blue brick houses in Ming and Qing Dynasties side by side forming a long alley, with traces of historical carving between each brick and tile. In order to rejuvenate these ancient buildings, Xiyuan Village has chosen some houses to repair and improve them, and turned them into a tourist culture exhibition area and another tourist punching point.

We see many construction workers repairing single houses. Village head Tan said: During this period, 18 houses will be built to collect 10 cultures, and then we can visit abroad and pass on the culture. Then our home is more primitive. We built 65,438+00 houses, restored the clock and presented it completely.

In addition to the tangible carrier of ancient buildings, Yashao's 18 building has always had a strong tradition of respecting literature and learning, and the cultural heritage of doctors' homes, teachers' homes and revolutionary homes is praised by the world.
