Where is Jiyuan?

Jiyuan is one of Henan 18 provincial cities. Named after the birthplace of Jishui (ancient Jishui was also called "four blasphemies" with the Yellow River, Huaihe River and Yangtze River). Jiyuan is located on the north bank of the Yellow River, with Taihang Mountain in the north, King Wu in the west, Luoyang in the south and Jiaozuo in the east.

Jiyuan City is the hometown of the legendary Gong Yu. In ancient times, it was the "original" capital of the Xia Dynasty. From the Warring States to the Han Dynasty, "governing foreigners" was famous for its wealth. In the year of 16 (596), the county was established, and in 1988, the county was withdrawn to build the city. Originally in Xinxiang area, it was later placed in Jiaozuo. 1997 implements the system of provincial direct management, and was listed as one of the nine central cities of Zhongyuan urban agglomeration in Henan Province in 2003. In 2005, it was upgraded to a provincial city (equivalent to a sub-prefecture level), and in the same year it was listed as one of the pilot cities in Henan Province to promote urban-rural integration.
