Brief introduction of Nanhua Temple

Nanhua Temple, the full name of Nanhua Temple, is located on Caoxi River 4000 meters south of Maba Town, qujiang district, Shaoguan City, Guangdong Province.

As one of the six famous temples in Guangdong, Nanhua Temple is one of the most famous ancient Buddhist temples in China, and its beautiful scenery makes people sigh that Sanzang, the Indian monk who was the founder, had an eye for pearls. Nanhua Temple is the birthplace of Huineng, the sixth ancestor of Zen Buddhism, with a unique position.

The main attractions of Nanhua Temple are Caoximen, Tianwang Hall, Ursa Major Hall, Zhaoling Pagoda, Sutra Pavilion, Ancestral Hall, Jiulongquan, Zufo Hall and so on. Among them, there are three giant buddhas more than eight meters high in Daxiong Hall, and there are 500 arhat wood carvings on both sides, which are different in shape and lifelike. Subtle changes under the sutra depository, when the breeze blows the dead leaves of the bodhi tree on the roof, the spirits are high, pigeons fly around, the breeze is slow, and the leaves are flying, which is beautiful.

Nanhua Temple also has a clear spring named Zhuoxi Spring (commonly known as Jiulong Spring), which is said to be the place where the six ancestors washed their robes. The spring water is clear, the surrounding trees are lush and the environment is quiet. There is also a big bronze bell weighing 10,000 Jin in the bell tower, which is 2.75 meters high and 1.8 meters in diameter. The words on the bronze bell are clear and loud.
