The ancients regarded Zheshan Mountain as the "Xiongshan" of Jiangcheng, and it has always enjoyed the reputation of "Jade Peak" and "Hundred-foot Floating Map" and is regarded as the symbol of Wuhu. Zheshan Mountain is located in the northwest corner of the city center, with a circumference of 4.5 kilometers and an area of 552.3 mu in Fiona Fang. There are two peaks, Dazhe Mountain is 82 meters above sea level and Xiaozhe Mountain is 65 meters above sea level. The trees are lush, named after the ochre color of the rocks.

According to legend, during the Warring States Period, the famous sword-casting master of Chu State cast a sword in Zhuchishan, one mile away from Zheshan Mountain. The fire of casting swords turned the rocks of Zheshan into red and ochre. Up to now, you can still see the crimson stones and mud all over the mountain. Some stones are as red as agate and dazzling.
