The origin of the custom of August 15

The word Mid-Autumn Festival first came from Zhou Li, Zhou Gongdan, and Yue Ling, Li Ji in the Western Zhou Dynasty, which said: Enjoy the moon in the Mid-Autumn Festival to support the elderly and eat porridge.

During the Wei and Jin Dynasties, some noble literati looked up at the moon hanging in the sky every Mid-Autumn Festival to pay homage to their feelings. Later, this custom gradually developed into a folk activity and over time, it became a traditional activity. In the early years of the Tang Dynasty, people paid more attention to this custom of offering sacrifices to the moon. Over time, the Mid-Autumn Festival became a fixed festival.
