There is a record in the history books that a white python that bites people and animals was driven into the Yangtze River. In Ming Dynasty writer Feng Menglong's story "Warning the World: The White Lady's Yongzheng Leifeng Pagoda", Fa Hai, a Buddhist monk, may have created it on this basis.
