History of Zhaozhaizi Township in Gaotang
Zhaozhaizi Township is named after Zhaozhaizi Village, where the township government is resident. Most of the residents are immigrants from Ming and Qing Dynasties. Han Zhuang in the west, Xiaoguantun in the east, Dinggang, Maozhuang, Lutou and Zhang Miao used to belong to Qingping County, and the old towns in Qingping County belonged to Gaotang County, followed by Zhaozhaizi Township. These six villages are under the jurisdiction of this township. Many villages in the east, such as Getun, Sanzhai, (Dingzhai, Zhouzhai and Xuzhai), Zhaozhaizi, Gaozhaizi, Zhuang Jie, Dongxihu and Songlou, were transferred from Jiangdian Township. Douguantun in the north used to belong to Gaotang Town, while Jiangguantun, Jiangjiapu and Dongxihuangtun in the northwest used to belong to Sanlipu Township.
1997 the ancient tomb of the yuan dynasty discovered in Dong Xiao village of this township filled a blank in the study of the history of the yuan dynasty in western Shandong. Zhaozhaizi Township has a long revolutionary tradition, where revolutionary general Xiao Hua and national hero Fan Zhuxian once lived and fought. Kong Fansen, a model of leading cadres, worked in the countryside for a year.
