Minqin County belongs to Wuwei City, Gansu Province.

Minqin County is located in the northeast of Hexi Corridor, downstream of Shiyang River Basin, bordering Liangzhou District in the south, Jinchang in the southwest, and surrounded by Badain Jaran and Tengger Desert in the east, west and north. As of February 2020, the total area of the county is 1.58 million square kilometers, and it governs 18 towns and 248 villages.
