In his later years, Emperor Qianlong liked to gallop everywhere. He has visited Jiangnan six times. Emperor Qianlong saw a wide and tidy road when he went out, so he wrote a couplet casually: "The road leads to the north and south." The courtiers who followed around saw the emperor's problems and thought hard. The beggar pointed to the shops on both sides of the street and said to everyone, "The shops on both sides buy things."

Hearing this, Qianlong immediately applauded. He didn't expect that his picture must be against a beggar with street brains, so he ordered the beggar to be rewarded. Emperor Qianlong shook his fan and said to the little beggar, "Do you still deserve another couplet?" The little beggar said firmly, "Of course." Seeing this, Emperor Qianlong made another couplet: "Eight-way bridge, eight-way bridge, standing on the eight-way bridge and looking around, eight directions, eight directions."

Emperor Qianlong said to the little beggar, "If you can make the next couplet, I will hand you over as the number one scholar." Faced with everyone's doubts, the little beggar made an amazing move. He sat down in front of emperor Qianlong and said, "long live the Lord, long live the Lord, kneel before the Lord and shout long live the Lord." After listening, Master Gan Long waved and said, "You are the first scholar".
