History of Confucius Temple in Wenchang

According to historical records, in 1042 (during the Northern Song Dynasty and the Qing Dynasty), Wenchang built the first Confucius Temple in Hainan next to the county government in Tambu Village, Hegongdu, Anzhi Township, where the old county government was located (now south of Xialu Bridge in Wenchang East Road Town).

133 1 year (Yuan to Shun two years), Wenchang County moved to Beishandu, Fenghua Township. The Confucian Temple also moved here and settled on the right side of the county seat. Perhaps in the Ming Dynasty, the concept of "respecting the right" in the Yuan Dynasty was changed to "respecting the left". 1375 (the eighth year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty), Wenchang County ordered Zhao Wenbing to move it to the left side of the county (current address).
