outline

He Xiangu's legendary prototype comes from Wuping, Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, and the following historical materials can prove it. The fusion of ancient and modern books? Natural history collection? Scripture? He Xiangu's information recorded by the Immortal Department is exactly the same as that recorded in Fujian Tongzhi: "Xian Gu, Da Lang's father. Living in Southern Yan, Wuping, I am self-sufficient in goods and cakes. Lv Chunyang (Lv Dongbin among the Eight Immortals), seeing that he has the quality of immortality, asked for future cakes. Lu gan, give a peach, and the cloud will become immortal. Xiangu went to Gu Nanyan. "

Qing Kangxi Wuping County Records? The record outside the party: "He Xiangu, father Dalang. Living in Nan 'anyan. If you are born without meat, you will never be suitable for others. Your parents are self-sufficient in goods and cakes. Lv Chunyang, seeing his immortal nature, has long been eager for bread and should do something. Lu gan, give a peach, and the cloud will become immortal. Xiangu then broke through the valley and went to Nanyan. In the second year of Gande in the Northern Song Dynasty (AD 964), he decided to light the Buddha to the rock and wanted to open the Dojo. One day, He Xiangu went out to watch the flood, so he took his clothes into the rock and sat cross-legged. Xiangu can speak Dalang dialect (He Xiangu's father He Dalang), so she built a house and a stone as a Buddhist Dojo. The villagers scrambled to build temples and buildings to worship the Buddha and the gods. The most effective, those who are sick and annoyed, scan the image, and the bait will be fine. " "Things and Articles", the same county chronicle, says: "In the auspicious symbol room, you can watch the disaster across the state, leaving only one column with the word" Xie "on the side. In the celebration calendar, someone asked He Xiangu, saying: Xie Xian is like a ghost in the thunder department, in charge of fire. Everyone who has heard it has tried it in the Taoist scriptures. It is good to believe that a nun in Li Qing is really Dalang's daughter. "

According to Wu Ping's He Family Tree, "He Xiangu was born in Ding You (AD 937) in the second year of Tianfu at the end of Jin Dynasty. Xiangu is young and pure, does not corrode wine, does not eat meat, and is hidden in stones, which is not pleasant. " In the first year of Yuan Dynasty (A.D. 1086), He Xiangu died in the home of Sun Li Liu Yilang, the fifth son of He Dalang, Liukeng Natural Village, Ningyang Village, Yan Qian Town, Wuping County, with a life span of 150 years, making him the oldest person in Wuping history. "Spectrum" says: "When Xian Gu died, she heard drums in the air, and a piece of auspicious clouds went straight from bed to night. Everyone was amazed, and people in the natural village were amazed and set up a statue in Xiangulou. " He Xiangu was buried on the rock in front of the pond of Ganhu Lake in Ningyang.

He Xiangu lived through four dynasties: the late Jin Dynasty, the late Han Dynasty, the weekend and the Northern Song Dynasty, which is also rare in the history of China.

He Xiangu's father, He Dalang, died in Renchen in the third year of Song Chunhua (AD 993), enjoying his life 10 1 year. His original wife, Huang Yiniang, died in Xianping, Song Zhenzong for four years, enjoying a long life 102 years old. He Xiangu and his parents both lived 100 years old, which is rare in the world. He Xiangu's parents' tomb is also in front of Wupingyan, which is well preserved and the inscription is discernible, which can be used as proof.

Related legends

He Xiangu is one of the Eight Immortals' handed down works. In the old society, he was widely believed by the Han nationality and some ethnic minorities. In addition to the statue of the Eight Immortals Palace in Xi 'an, it enjoys incense in Mount Tai and Wang Mu Pond. Since the Tang and Song Dynasties, there have been many records about her deeds, second only to Lv Dongbin among the Eight Immortals. However, the origin of this fairy, which is very humanized in the legend of the Eight Immortals, is still an unsolved problem. According to the "He Xiangu Birthday" which still has temple fairs in modern times, Zengcheng's birthday is on the seventh day of March in the summer calendar, and Xi 'an Baxian Palace's birthday is on the ninth day of April. The difference of one month before and after is because the historical files are different.

Layman's record

He Xiangu was the daughter of Hetai, Zengcheng County, Guangzhou, during the Tang and Wu Zetian Dynasties, according to Luo Fuzhi's Fairy Mirror of Past Dynasties. At the age of thirteen, she went into the mountains to collect tea and met a Taoist priest. Taoist gave her a peach, and since then she has never been hungry or thirsty, and she knows how to stop complaining. Later, she went to Tang Zhongzong, the Year of the Loong (707-7 10) and became immortal during the day. In today's Zengcheng County, Guangzhou, the legend about He Xiangu is more specific, with "physical proof": He Xiangu's real name is He Xiugu, a native of Xingui Township, Xiao Lou District, Zengcheng County, and Wu Zetian of the Tang Dynasty was born on the seventh day of March in a summer calendar. His father He Tai makes tofu for a living. Xiugu was very clever since she was a child. At the age of fourteen, she was lucky enough to come to Lv Dongbin. Lu gave her some mica films, through which she could know the fate of the world and often visited the immortals in Luofu Mountain. After her parents found a husband's family named Feng for her, Xiugu refused to marry. On the eighth day of August in Zhongzong Jinglong, she threw herself into the well. Only one shoe was worn when throwing the well, and the other shoe was left on the well platform. After that, she floated out of the river in Putian, Fujian. It turned out that the well was connected with the river, which was a strange case at that time, so there was a legend that Xiugu had become an immortal. It is said that Xiangu appeared in a small building in her hometown during the reign of Emperor Zong (766-779). She was seen enjoying the cool under a litchi tree in saionji, and a green silk belt was hung on the tree. Now this place is called "Hanging Green Garden", and the fruit of this litchi has a green ribbon, which is the famous "Hanging Green Litchi" in Zengcheng.

This kind of strange tree was recorded in Qu Dajun's Guangdong New Talk and Zengcheng County Records in Qing Dynasty. Later, people built a He Xiangu Temple in Xiaolou, which still exists today. There is a couplet on the gate: "A Millennium single crystal, a hundred generations worship the ancient temple." Deng Chun's Lingnan Series quoted Taiping Guangji as saying that Guangzhou's second thought was to make shoes. At the age of 20, he suddenly went to Luofushan Temple and often picked bayberries for the temple, but there were no bayberries in Luofushan, and the monks didn't know where these bayberries came from. Four hundred miles north of Luofu Mountain, there is Zhou Xun Mountain Temple, in front of which there are Myrica rubra trees, surrounded by a large number of ten trees. Once, a monk from Zhou Xun Temple came to Luofu Mountain and said that one day a fairy came to their temple to pick plums. When the monk heard this, it was the day when He Erniang picked plums and fasted, and everyone knew that she was a "fairy". During the Kaiyuan period of the Tang Dynasty (7 13-74 1), Huangmenshi was ordered to visit He Erniang in Guangzhou, but suddenly disappeared on the way to Beijing with Huangmenshi, and he has been in into thin air since then. Later, some scholars speculated that He Erniang was He Xiangu of Zengcheng. Some people think that He Xiangu is a figure in the Song Dynasty, and the notes of scholars in the Song Dynasty, such as Ouyang Xiu's Postscript to Ancient Records, Wei Tai's Dong Xuanlu and Zeng Minxing's Du Xing Magazine, all contain his deeds. If someone says that He Xiangu is the daughter of a native of Yongzhou, Song Renzong, she met a stranger when she was young and was given Xiantao (or Yunxianzao). Since then, she has no seeds, so she can know her fate. In order to build a temple pavilion, the scholar-officials often come to beg for mercy. Ceng Min said that he went to He Xiangu Pavilion in Yongzhou to see the portrait of Xiangu. He Xiangu is from Hengshan, so you can forgive her. Teng Zongliang, the prefect of Baling County, met her during the period of Song Renzong Violet (104 1- 1048). Ouyang Xiu believes: "Tourists have their own balance. In his later years, Yunxian Valley was thin and his face was black, and he was the first to decline. " Later, there was a "recent cloud in Hengzhou:' The immortal is dead, and there is no wonder'". It seems that these two "fairies" are real folk witches, living in the same era; And Wang Dechen's "Lady's History" also talks about Teng Zongliang asking for advice from Yongzhou He Xiangu, so Yongzhou Xiangu and Hengzhou Xiangu may be the same person. It is recorded in Fairy Mirror of Past Dynasties that Lv Dongbin met his daughter in Lingling, was seduced by the elixir, and was introduced to Li Zhong. From then on, he went to the fairy class to clean the fallen leaves of the flat peach in Yuen Long. According to Lingling, Yongzhou is the governing place, so later generations think that He Xiangu is the prototype of the Eight Immortals. According to the records of Anqing local chronicles, Qiyang county chronicles, Fujian local chronicles, Zhejiang local chronicles and Shexian county chronicles quoted in The Ancient and Modern Book Collection, there are traces and rumors of local "He Xiangu" in Tongcheng, Qimen, Wuping and Changhua, Anhui. For example, He Xiangu in Tongzhi, Fujian, is the daughter of He Dalang who sells cakes. When Lv Dongbin saw that she had "fairy qualities", she asked her for cakes every day. She was very generous, and Lu was very moved, so she gave her a peach and let her go to the fairy class. This story is completely similar to the story of Lv Dongbin accepting He Xiangu as an apprentice in folklore, except that the location was changed from Guangdong and Guangxi to Fujian (see the book The Meeting of the Eight Immortals); In the legend of He Xiangu, Guangdong, there is a saying that a fairy visited immortals in Guangzhou and ascended immortals in Fujian. So some people suspect that these two "fairy goddesses" are the same person. He Xiangu, recorded in Zhejiang Tongzhi and Shexian Zhi, was born in Yuan You period in northern Song Zhezong (1086- 1094). If according to Ouyang Xiu's records, Xiangu died of old age in Hengzhou, she is obviously another "Xiangu".

Taoist classics

In addition to secular records, there are Taoist classics.

Some clues of He Xiangu (2 1): For example, Lu Zuzhi said that Lv Dongbin's name is Zhao Xiangu, and it is homophonic with her surname because she holds a lotus flower. Doop source figure thinks that He Xiangu is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Xu. In this way, even the gender of "nun 1" has become a problem. However, the plays of the Eight Immortals in Yuan Dynasty often have "Xu Shen Weng" but no "He Xiangu", which is well-founded. However, in Lu Zhenren's "Jiangzhou Wangjiang Pavilion" quoted in "Ancient and Modern Books Integration", there is a statement that "He Xiangu Guo's self-realization is on the stove". How can I explain it? As a result, even Taoist views on He Xiangu are quite different. Rich and controversial information has made ancient and modern scholars rack their brains to find out the truth about "He Xiangu". As mentioned above, Xiangu is considered as a girl in Guangzhou, and Xiangu is considered as a "declining girl" in Yongzhou (or Hengzhou). During the Tang and Song Dynasties, people in Lingnan and Hunan became entangled, so some people thought that He Xiangu, the Eight Immortals, was a mixture of these two images, and the former was his life story, while the latter was his Lv Dongbin disciple. However, this view has not been unanimously recognized by the academic circles.

Biography

Report 1

He Xiangu was born in Lanling (now Changzhou, Jiangsu). According to legend, in 14 or 15, God taught people to eat mica powder, but they died when it was light. Jinglong skyrocketed during the day. The world calls He Xiangu, and customs are one of the Eight Immortals. He Xiangu said about her hometown, besides Zengcheng in Guangdong, there are many opinions about Guangxi, Fujian, Zhejiang, Anhui and Hunan. Opinions vary, probably because there is no such person in history.

Fairy Wonderland says: He Xiangu is a daughter named He Tai from Zengcheng, Guangzhou. I was born with six hairs on my head. At the age of sixteen, he dreamed that a fairy taught him: "Eating mica powder can strengthen your body and live forever." So she listened to the fairy's instructions, ate mica, vowed not to marry, and often traveled to and from the valley, hiking like flying. Go out every morning and bring some wild fruits back to her mother at night. After gradually not eating whole grains, Wu Zetian sent envoys to call her into the palace and suddenly disappeared on her way to Beijing. After that, the immortal was born during the day. In the ninth year of Tang Tianbao, he appeared in Magu altar, standing in five clouds, and then appeared in Xiaoshilou, Guangzhou.

Song Zengmin's "Awakening Alone" magazine records: "Di Qing passed Yongzhou when he fought for Nannong in his early years. He heard that He Xiangu could predict good and bad luck, so he specially asked about the outcome of the war. He Xiangu said: "You don't have to see a thief. A thief will leave after defeat." Di Qing didn't believe it at first. Later, Song Jun Pioneer fought against the soldiers of Nannong Gaozhi, but there was no chance. Gaozhi was defeated and fled to Dali.

He Xiangu often holds a lotus flower.

Anyone who knows a little about China's traditional culture will be familiar with the term "Eight Immortals". The so-called "Eight Immortals" refer to the Eight Immortals, namely Han Zhongli, Zhang, Cao Guojiu, Han Xiangzi, Lan Caihe and He Xiangu. They are all mortals, and they practice hard to become immortals. The Eight Immortals have a unique woman, that is, He Xiangu. She is like a little red flower among the Eight Immortals, which makes her particularly eye-catching.

He Xiangu, formerly known as He Qiong, was born in an ordinary peasant family in Lingling in the first year of Yao Kai, Tang Gaozong. The locals said that on the day when He Qiong was born, a bright and auspicious purple airflow enveloped He's cabin, and a group of cranes danced up and down in the purple airflow. In a short time, a strong sika deer rushed into He's house with a girl with pigtails and a red Chinese-style chest covering. At this time, he gave birth to a chubby baby girl.

Speaking of He Qiong's hometown Lingling, it is a beautiful place. According to Historical Records, "Shun was buried in Jiuqi in the south of the Yangtze River as Lingling." Saint Shun Di was buried in Kyubi no Youko Mountain, Lingling. Lingling city is located at the intersection of Xiaoxiang, with Nanyue Hengshan Mountain in the north and Wuling Mountain in the south. It is the gateway of Chu and Yue. There is a mica mountain in the west of Lingling county, which is rich in five-color mica, which is a good medicine for seeking immortality in ancient times; A clear and winding stream flows down from the mountain, called mica stream, and He Qiong's home is next to the beautiful mica stream.

He Qiong, who grew up drinking mica water, grew up beautiful and witty. Since she was a child, she likes to play and wander by mica creek alone. At the age of fourteen, she met a white-haired old man with a long beard by the mica stream. The old man asked her some local scenery, and He Qiong answered them wisely. The old man is very happy. He took out a fresh flat peach from his backpack and handed it to He Qiong. He Qiong took it, thanked the old man, and then ate the flat peach three times five divided by two. The old man watched her finish eating, smiled and nodded, turned around and disappeared. After returning home, He Qiong hasn't felt hungry for several days. He doesn't want to eat, but his spirit is stronger than before. A month later, He Qiong met Ling next to Mica Creek. This time, the old man took her to Muyun Mountain and taught her how to collect mica and how to take it. He Qiong, according to his words, eats mica on mica mountain every day, and gradually feels as light as a swan, traveling to and from the top of the mountain and walking like a fly. Besides, she can identify and pick all kinds of herbs in the mountains, treat all kinds of diseases for people nearby and predict personnel, so people around her call her "He Xiangu".

The news of He Qiong's immortality spread like wildfire, and finally reached the ears of Wu Zetian, an imperial envoy in Beijing.

At that time, Wu Zetian was the queen of Tang Gaozong, but she held the real power of the imperial court. Wu Zetian believed in Buddhism under the influence of her mother since she was a child. After becoming a queen, she tried her best to promote Buddhism in the palace and the whole country, hoping to overwhelm the Taoist momentum admired by Li Tang and take some Buddhist scriptures as the theoretical basis for her usurpation. Buddhism "Fa Xiang Zong" advocates "two emptiness", that is, treating self and everything as emptiness, in order to achieve the lofty realm of the unity of all things in the universe and me; In layman's terms, it is to understand with your heart and let yourself forget everything, and then you can soar in the daytime, walk in the clouds and live forever. Wu Zetian is very convinced of this. She was very interested when she heard that there was a He Xiangu in Lingling where she could travel freely on the top of the mountain. She specially sent someone to visit and gave He Xiangu a morning glow suit. He Xiangu accepted the morning glow suit and put it on happily. People around heard the news and came from all directions to see it. I saw He Xiangu's body shining and dazzling, as if she were a fairy; The villagers were so frightened that they could not help kneeling on the ground and kneeling in front of He Xiangu. He Xiangu was quite complacent, but her mother was greatly frightened and thought, "Who dares to marry such a daughter!"

As expected, when He Xiangu was eighteen, her mother earnestly asked the matchmaker to choose a husband for her. Although He Xiangu is as beautiful as a flower, no one dares to marry her because of her superb skills. What does mother worry about? He Xiangu himself has nothing to do. He goes out of rural Shan Ye all day and is busy collecting herbs to treat people, leading a very fulfilling life.

One day, He Xiangu went deep into the dense forest of Mica Mountain to collect herbs and met two magical people. One of them was a lame old man, leaning on an iron cane and carrying a huge wine gourd on his back, looking like a beggar. The other was dressed in a neat blue shirt, with a medicine hoe in his hand and a medicine basket on his shoulder, and his expression was very elegant. Not far in front of He Xiangu, two Sang Men whispered again. After a while, they flew away and suddenly disappeared. These two men are Tie Guai Li and Lan Caihe of the Eight Immortals. He Xiangu noticed their appearance, chanting the formula of stealing, thinking that he could fly over the valley of Feng Ling like them. Since then, she has often come to the mountains to practice quietly, and her posture has become more and more skilled, and she can fly farther and farther. With this kind of kung fu, she often flies to distant mountains and rushes back and forth, bringing back some strange mountain fruits for her family to taste. The family felt sweet and delicious after eating it, but they didn't know what fruit it was.

Seeing that she goes out early and comes back late every day, she becomes suspicious and asks where she went and what she did. He Xiangu couldn't beat her mother, saying that she went to the famous mountains and fairyland to talk about Buddhism and Taoism with the immortal Buddha every day. Gradually, the news that He Xiangu was familiar with Buddhism and Taoism spread again. When Wu Zetian heard about it, she sent messengers to Lingling to prepare for the funeral, and called He Xiangu to Luoyang, the eastern capital, to discuss Buddhism and Taoism. The officials followed He Xiangu to Luoyang City. When the boat passed waterinfo, everyone suddenly disappeared from He Xiangu's sight. The envoys panicked and hurriedly ordered people to look around, but found no clues. Everyone was so scared that they sat in a daze by the Luohe River. At dusk, He Xiangu flew down in the air and told the messenger unhurriedly: "I have gone to the Forbidden Palace to meet the queen of heaven, so you can report back to the DPRK."

The envoys returned to Luoyang Palace with a grain of salt. As soon as they inquired, it was He Xiangu who visited the marquis of Wu that day and had a long talk with her in the palace, which surprised the envoys.

It is said that He Xiangu talked with Wuhou in the palace about the art of immortality. She persuaded Wuhou that if you want to live a long life, you must first be lust, silence and he who sees through fame and fortune; Secondly, we should do more good deeds, curb torture, prohibit false waste, implement benevolent policies, and Xiu De will accumulate blessings. At the same time, she also talked about the way of governing the country and keeping the country safe. She must be virtuous and far away, and never take a different surname as an heir. What she said was actually aimed at Wu Hou.

Wuhou is a clever man. After listening to He Xiangu's reasonable words, she gradually put them into action. Soon, Lai Junchen and other brutal officials were punished by law. Later, the sage Di was reused: as for the heir, the marquis of Wu wanted to make his nephew Wu a prince, but under Di's advice, she followed the advice of Xian Gu and gave up the original intention of changing her surname. As for abstinence, abstinence, who sees through fame and fortune, Wu Zetian, who has always been addicted to lust and power, has never been able to do it, so-called to the point of humiliating the country.

In order to repay He Xiangu's kindness, Wu Zetian specially ordered the local officials of Lingling to build a magnificent Huixian Pavilion at Phoenix Terrace in the south of Lingling, as the place where He Xiangu preached the Dharma. After giving lectures, He Xiangu often sits on the stone steps in front of the museum, peels off a round fairy fruit and throws it around. Later, lychee trees were planted around Huixian Museum, and the lychees on these trees were all green lychees. People call it "Phoenix Terrace with Litchi Hanging Green".

He Xiangu also wrote a poem "Phoenix Terrace":

Phoenix mica is like smallpox, refined into lotus and white clouds;

Laughing fanatics have no opinions, and where to find cinnabar.

On the surface, this poem is written on the Phoenix Terrace, but in fact it hides the true meaning of seeking truth from food and the method of taking mica. People say that He Xiangu is a Taoist believer from the characteristics of feeding and practicing; Some people attributed her to a Buddhist disciple according to the ideological content of her sermon. In fact, He Xiangu can be said to be a Taoist or a Buddhist, but he is not a Taoist or a non-Buddhist. Reached the realm of harmony between man and nature. How can earthly Buddhism and Taoism frame her?

One day, He Xiangu was suddenly inspired and wrote a poem entitled "Ma Gu Feng":

Ma Gu laughed that I fell in love with the hubbub, and I stayed away from Xian Fan Lu.

Fly to Cangzhou to get the bright moon, ride the yellow crane and listen to the flute.

This poem full of fairy rhyme seems to imply some kind of omen. Sure enough, one day in the first year of Jinglong in Tang Zhongzong, 26-year-old He Xiangu sat on the Phoenix Platform, looking up at the distant sky, and suddenly saw Tie Guai Li standing in the distant clouds, waving his iron cane, as if to say hello to her. Unconsciously, He Xiangu's body rises like Cai Fengran Ran, and rises in the air, followed by Tie Guai Li. At this time, a beaded shoe on her foot fell to the ground. The next day, a well suddenly appeared where the beaded shoes fell. Well water is clear and sweet, and it smells strange. The well site around it is shaped like an arched shoe. The local people built the He Xiangu Temple by the well, and the incense was growing. Because the water in the well is not only cool to quench thirst, but also can cure all diseases, and people from far and near are talking about it.

He Xiangu rose to immortality during the day, becoming the only red powder among the Eight Immortals, and forming a little red in the evergreen trees. After He Xiangu became immortal, he never forgot the sufferings of the world, and often wandered around the south, distributing sex and rain, eliminating epidemics and saving suffering. Any kind person needs her help, as long as she silently prays to heaven, she can come like "timely rain" and give people magical power.

It has been more than 30 years since Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty became an immortal in He Xiangu. After a day of heavy rain, the blue sky was washed, and people in Lingling saw a colorful auspicious cloud floating leisurely. He Xiangu stood in the clouds wearing a morning glow suit. While people knelt down to worship, a bunch of yellow silk fell from the air to the phoenix stage, which read a poem like this:

Mica creek wins the rooftop, and thousands of trees bloom;

Yu Di blew through Huanglong Cave, but did not lead the crane.

Give a message to the Zhang family and Li Jiafa, and your body will be idle;

Penglai's weak water is now clear and shallow, and flowers are everywhere to protect the moon.

The fairy has entered Wei Zi, and the water town is still slow to look back;

For thousands of years, I left my shoes by the well, saying that I knew the fairy in the thatched cottage.

This poem contains nostalgia for hometown scenery, exhortation to villagers, and narration of the lonely feeling of immortal life, persuading mortals to cherish their own lives. Everyone says that immortals are good, but immortals have troubles. When you are advised to cherish mortals, don't wait for time to disappear! "

Statement 3

He Xiangu, formerly known as He Xiugu, was born on the seventh day of February in China, Wu Ze. Her father runs a tofu mill, and she has been his helper since childhood. From then on, she never felt hungry again, but she could also predict the future and know people's fortune. The villagers built a small building for her and asked her to live there. People often come here to ask her for fortune telling. Gradually, He Xiugu's name became He Xiangu.

Guaqing litchi

It is said that in order to eat fresh lychees in the south, Emperor Tang Ming and Yang Guifei ordered all post stations to send lychees at once, so there is an eternal story that "riding a princess in the world of mortals, no one knows it is lychee". The king of litchi, "Zengcheng Guaqing", is famous all over the world because of the "immortal spirit" of He Xiangu. In the early Qing Dynasty, Qu Dajun's Guangdong Xinyu said that "hanging green lychees is as crisp as pears, but the pulp will remain unchanged for three days". Unique, this litchi has a green line mark from the pedicle to the top, so it is called "hanging green". This litchi tree is in an orchard in Zengcheng, Guangdong. An old friend, He Xiangu, accidentally came to the litchi tree to relieve himself and hung his green belt on the tree. As a result, this tree was infected with "immortal spirit" and produced "hanging green litchi". Its delicious and refreshing fruit won the admiration of eaters, and its reputation spread far and wide. Now, there is an original He Xiangu Temple in Zengcheng. There is a well in front of the temple and a couplet on the gate:

The traces of Dan Jing for thousands of years,

EMI worships the ancients.

According to legend, it was from this well that He Xiangu finally entered Xiandao. When she left, she left an embroidered shoe on the well platform. Later generations called this well "the well of asking immortals", which attracted believers from all over the world to worship.
