Brief introduction of Meizhou Bay North Shore Economic Development Zone

Meizhou Bay North Shore Economic Development Zone was established on 1996 with the approval of Fujian Provincial People's Government. In 2002, when the administrative division of Putian City was adjusted, it was changed to Xiuyu District. In March 2007, with the approval of the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Land and Resources, the Ministry of Construction and other departments, it remained as a provincial development zone.

In order to speed up the development and construction of the North Shore of Meizhou Bay, the municipal party committee and the municipal government adjusted the jurisdiction area of the North Shore Development Zone and re-listed it on April 29th, 2007. The main task is to promote the construction of Binhai new city with the development of Mazu city, and promote the rise of port city with the development of port industry.

In 20 10, Bei' an development zone was listed as one of the top ten new economic growth regions in Fujian by the Fujian provincial party Committee and government. The total land area of the Development Zone is 1.370 square kilometers (including blue land area 1.250 square kilometers), which governs Shanting, Dongpu and Zhongmen Town, with 38 villages (residences) and registered population of 1.5 million.

The North Shore Economic Development Zone of Meizhou Bay has the advantages of Mazu culture and Meizhou Bay's natural deep-water port, and its main task is to serve Mazu city and port industry construction. With the construction of Mazu City to promote the construction of Binhai New City, the planned construction of Mazu City in Putian City faces Meizhou Island, a national tourist resort, across the sea, and is adjacent to Wu Dong Port Area in the west. It is surrounded by mountains and faces the sea, echoing the aura of Mazu Tempel in Meizhou, condensing the popularity of Meizhou Island National Tourism Resort and Putian Binhai New City, and gathering the wealth of surrounding large-scale port industries and major municipal infrastructure. The development of Mazu city is divided into three stages: short-term, medium-term and long-term. The short-term (core area) is 5.68 square kilometers, the medium-term 16 square kilometers and the long-term 60 square kilometers. The functional orientation of the core area integrates leisure, entertainment, shopping, catering, finance, exhibition, culture, education and ship (fishing) port administration, and is divided into five functional areas: tourist area, leisure resort area, ecological residential area, administrative office area and educational service area. The municipal party committee and municipal government have decided to basically complete the construction of municipal infrastructure such as seawall revetment, roads and bridges, land reclamation, etc. within three years, and Binhai New Town will take shape within five years. Upon completion, Mazu will become a garden city, a modern city, a tourist city, a cultural city and a water city. It will become the Pearl Holy Land on the west side of the Straits and Venice in the East.
