Jiming Temple is located in Lushan House at the eastern foot of Jilong Mountain, Xuanwu District, Nanjing.

Jiming Temple, also known as the ancient Jiming Temple, was built in the first year of Yongkang in the Western Jin Dynasty (300 years) and has a history of 1700 years. It is one of the oldest Brahma temples and royal temples in Nanjing, and the incense has been very prosperous. Since ancient times, it has been known as the first temple in the Southern Dynasties and the first temple in the Southern Dynasties. In the Southern Dynasties, it was as famous as qixia temple and Dingshan Temple, and it was the Buddhist center of China in the Southern Dynasties.

One view is that, according to historical records, as early as the Sun Wu period, there was a temple called Qi Xuan Temple in the current Jiming Temple, which was named after Jiming Temple located in Qixuanchi at the northern foot of Jiming Mountain. Some people think that during the Three Kingdoms period, Qi Xuan Temple was once the back garden of Sun Wu's mansion, and in the Jin Dynasty, it was the Tingwei Department.

The architecture of Jiming Temple

The gate of Jiming Temple is located on the stone steps on the left side of Jiming Temple Road. In the middle of the gate, there are four golden characters of the ancient Jiming Temple, and on the left is the food table (Zhigong Taiwan). In front of the dining table is the Maitreya Buddha Hall, and on the hall are the Ursa Major Hall and the Guanyin Building. There are two gilded bronze statues of Sakyamuni and Guanyin presented by Thailand, and 32 new Guanyin statues are enshrined in the hall.

To the east of Ursa Major is the site of Xu Ge Pavilion, and to the west is the Tayuan. The courtyard of the pagoda is all carved and polished with bluestone. The Pharmacist Tower was rebuilt in 1990, and Guanyin Tower is a spacious building on the left. The main buildings of Jiming Temple include Daxiong Hall, Guanyin Building, Temple, Zhiling Mausoleum, Tibetan Scripture Building, Buddhist Temple, Pharmacist Tower, Rouge Well, Lounge and Jingyang Building.
