According to Baidu Library, Bing Xin was originally named Xie Wanying, and the word Bing Xin was taken from Wang Changling's poem "A piece of Bing Xin is in a jade pot". Now Bing Xin's pen name is far more widely known than her original name. Bing Xin once told the story that her grandfather named her. She said that when she was born, the fortune teller said that her horoscope lacked fire, so her grandfather named her Wan Ying.
