Can members be religious? why

Members are not allowed to be religious.

If the League members believe in religion, they will disarm themselves from the scientific materialist world outlook, which is not only not conducive to the youth of the League members to master scientific knowledge and improve their own skills, to the youth of the League members to establish lofty ideals and realize their dreams, and to the enhancement of the cohesion of the Communist Youth League.

The Communist Youth League of China is a mass organization of advanced youth led by China, a school for young people to learn Socialism with Chinese characteristics and communism in practice, and an assistant and reserve army of China.

According to the articles of association, "The Communist Youth League of China firmly supports China's program and takes Marxism–Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory and Theory of Three Represents as the action guides". This requires that the world outlook of the Communist Youth League members should be a Marxist materialistic world outlook. When the league members join the league, they have consciously become atheists and freely choose not to believe in religion.

Citizens of People's Republic of China (PRC) (China) enjoy freedom of religious belief. No state organ, social organization or individual may compel citizens to believe in or not believe in religion, and may not discriminate against citizens who believe in or not believe in religion. The state protects normal religious activities. No one may use religion to engage in activities that disrupt social order, harm citizens' health or interfere with the national education system. Religious groups and religious affairs are not dominated by foreign forces.
