The historical evolution of Gaizhou

Gaizhou city was an important town in Liaodong more than 2,000 years ago in the Han Dynasty, where merchants gathered. In the mid-Qing Dynasty, it became the "thoroughfare of wealth and goods" in Northeast China, and "it was famous in eight provinces and three rivers".

Gaizhou belonged to Liaodong County of Yan State during the Warring States Period.

After Qin unified the six countries, it still belonged to Liaodong County.

During the Western Han and Wei Dynasties, Wenxian County (now Tang Chi, dashiqiao city) was located in the north and Pingguo County (now Xiongyuecheng) was located in the south, which was under the jurisdiction of Liaodong County.

Yan Qian, Qianqin and Houyan in the Sixteen Kingdoms Period of the Eastern Jin Dynasty belonged to Pingguo County, Pingzhou.

After the establishment of Beiyan in 407 AD, this area was once divided by Koguryo, and Jian 'an City (now Gaolicheng in Qingshiling Town) and Jian 'an County were built.

In the first year of Emperor Taizong (668), Jian 'an County was established in Jian 'an City.

Chenzhou is located in Jian 'an, so Gai County is called Zhou.

The Jin Dynasty changed Chenzhou to Gaizhou.

Gaizhou Road was set up in the Yuan Dynasty, and Jian 'an City was still the seat of the government.

In the sixth year of Yuan Dynasty (1269), Xiong Yue and Tang Chi counties were merged into Jian 'an County. In the eighth year of Yuan Dynasty (127 1), Jian 'an County was merged into Gaizhou.

Ming Hongwu four years (137 1), Gaizhou was changed to Gaizhou Wei. The following year, a new town (now gaizhou city) was built.

In the third year of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty (1664), Gaiping County was established, belonging to Fengtianfu. The name "Gaiping" comes from the initials of the calendar names "Gaizhou" and "Pingguo".
