There is no one in the mountain, interacting with the "immortal" stone statues all over the mountain. In the evening, it is chilly in Jin Huashan.
Among the Jin Huashan, the biggest feature is the cliff stone carvings all over the mountain. Among the many existing cliff stone carvings in Chengdu, the stone carvings in Qionglai are the largest and most concentrated. Besides the stone carvings of Sun Shi, Huazhi Temple and Pantuo Temple in Qionglai, there are also stone carvings in Jin Huashan.
The stone carvings in Jin Huashan are called the Cliff Statue of Tiangong Temple, because the original temples in Jin Huashan, such as Tiangong Temple, Changshou Palace and Qunxian Palace, have been destroyed, leaving only the Cliff Statue and the dilapidated Tiangong Temple.
Jin Huashan is only about two kilometers away from Pingle Ancient Town, but its location is relatively remote. After visiting Pingle Ancient Town, I went to Jin Huashan. After many twists and turns, I finally reached the entrance at the foot of the mountain. It's already past four in the afternoon. At this time, there were no other tourists in the mountain except one or two old ladies and a group of chickens and ducks.
A cliff stone carving at the entrance of the mountain is particularly conspicuous, and caves of different sizes are arranged on the wall of a cliff. According to the data, the cliff statues of Tiangong Temple were carved in the Tang and Five Dynasties, with 74 caves and more than 650 Buddha statues. The main contents include Siddhartha Gautama, Avalokitesvara with a Thousand Hands, Huayan Three Statues, Western Pure Land and Flying Change, stupas and stone tablets, and here is just one of them.
Among the shrines here, the most special thing is that there is a stone stupa on both sides of the niche door. Although stupas are common in temples, they are very rare in cliff statues.
The old woman here warmly invited us to make pilgrimages, and told us that the mountainous area is still very wide, and there are many stone carvings, including a beautiful giant Buddha, which we can go up and have a look.
Jin Huashan is not tall. The rocky mountain road up the mountain is distributed in an "S" shape. There is a large area of South Zhuhai in the mountains. The bamboo forest is faint all the way, and the air is fresh and cool when walking in the dense bamboo forest. Although the bamboo sea here is not as good as the nearby Jinjiyu and Lugou Bamboo Sea, it feels more charming with the dense Buddhist holy land.
There are several temples on the mountain road, such as Guanyin Hall and Giant Buddha Hall. Occasionally, you can see one or two cliff carvings, which can be described as "one step in place".
Passing through the Great Buddha Hall, the temple is simple, and there are not many tourists along the way, but the incense burner in front of the temple is very strong. On one side of the table is a certificate of merit. The Great Buddha Hall is collecting merits and donations for renovation. A garden dog lay in front of the incense burner and looked at us calmly. I have never been afraid of having dogs in the temple. I thought they were mental and didn't attack anyone.
Above the cliff behind the Big Buddha Temple is the Jin Huashan Giant Buddha, carved in a cliff niche, dressed in red cloth, sitting in a posture similar to Leshan Giant Buddha, about several meters high, with a circular statue with a disciple and a bodhisattva on each side, which is solemn and solemn. Because it is located in a niche, it is less exposed to the wind and sun, and it is well preserved, and the color lines of the clothes are clear.
There are also one or two niches on both sides of the big Buddha's niche. The Buddha statue in the niche is very beautiful, and the color is still clear. A niche consists of dozens of statues of Buddha, Bodhisattva, disciple and heavenly king.
On the right side of the giant Buddha, there is a sign that says Tiangong Temple, but at the foot of the mountain, the old woman didn't tell us that there was Tiangong Temple on the mountain. Curious, we decided to find out.
After going up the mountain through the bamboo forest, I walked several hundred meters along the dirt road. Among the trees, Tiangong Temple appeared in front of me, but the temple was very simple, like a private house, without the pattern of a thousand-year-old temple. It is said that since the Tang Dynasty, the Temple of Heaven has enjoyed its peak incense. It is conceivable that this place was once a very popular pilgrimage site in the hearts of local people.
There are many statues in Tiangong Temple, not only Buddhist statues, but also Taoist statues. Although dilapidated, there are still two or three halls, and many names are engraved on the Buddha's light plaque. It can be seen that even such a simple temple was built with donations from many lay believers.
There is no one in the temple, only a dog awakened by our footsteps. The little guy shook his tail sleepily and greeted us warmly. This temple must be guarded. I wonder where the owner of the dog has gone.
There were no other scenic spots on the mountain, so we went back to the Giant Buddha Cave and went to the Qunxian Hall on the left side of the Giant Buddha Cave. Qunxiantang is deep in the valley and still walks in the bamboo forest, but the stone road along the valley is covered with moss, and the road is slippery, with no traces of tourists, only the cliff stone carvings scattered along the way.
On the way to Qunxian Hall, we passed the Hall of Heroes. At this time, it is about 5 pm, the door of the hall has already been closed, and there is silence in the deep valley, only birds are singing. The temperature in the valley is also gradually decreasing, and the coolness is coming.
Passing through the cliff gap next to the Hall of Heroes is the Hall of Qunxian. Qunxian Hall is indeed a gathering place for "Qunxian". On the cliff on one side of the valley, there are stone statues, such as Guanyin, Taishang Laojun, Bodhisattva, Tathagata, Emperor Guan Sheng, Emperor Wenchang, Jade Emperor, Empress Dowager and Lubanzu. , is a combination of Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism.
One of the largest is the statue of Guanyin with a thousand hands, among the immortals. The shape is folded hands with thousands of arms on both sides. Holding a musical instrument in each hand is spectacular.
Some of these stone statues are simple and exquisite, while others are brightly colored. I don't know when it was carved, or it was carved in the middle and late Tang Dynasty. It should have been revised in the later period.
After visiting these "immortal" stone carvings, it is near evening and the valley is more quiet. It's June now, but it's very cold here. I wonder if they are watching us uninvited guests disturb their open space when we visit these "immortal" stone carvings?
Of course, it was just a fantasy, but it was getting late and we left down the mountain. On the other way down the mountain, there is a stone carving of a thousand buddhas similar to Qunxian Hall and the same figure of "three religions in one", but these Millennium monuments are mixed with some colorful abstract works, which may be modern masterpieces.
Jin Huashan is rich in Buddhist art and quiet environment. Cliff carvings are all over the mountain, and the bamboo sea is lush. It should be a good summer resort with free attractions. When you visit Pingle ancient town, you can also drop in.
