Zhuolu County is located in the upper reaches of Yongding River in the northwest of Hebei Province and Beijing. It is located between 39 40' and 40 39' north latitude, between114 55' and15 31'east longitude, bordering Xiahuayuan District of Zhangjiakou City in the north, facing Xuanhua County across Huangyang Mountain in the northwest and facing Xuanhua County in the southwest and southeast.

Zhuolu County is 90 kilometers long from north to south and 43 kilometers wide from east to west, covering an area of 2,802 square kilometers (20 12). Topography of Zhuolu County:

Yanshan movement formed the basic outline of Zhuolu County landform. The geotectonics belongs to the transition zone between Yanshan subsidence zone and Shanxi platform anticline. The mountain extends in an arc from south to north, which is a hilly landform surrounded by mountains on three sides: south, west and north. There are high, medium and low mountains, basins, floodplains, terraces and other types in the territory, with an altitude of 460 ~ 2882 meters (Dongtai and Xiaowutai Mountain).

The confluence of Sanggan River and Yanghe River is a Cenozoic subsidence basin, and Fanshan in the east is Fanshan Yanqing Basin.
