The Origin and History of Chongtianwang Village in Ganyu District

The origin and history of Chongtianwang Village in Ganyu District are as follows: Chongtianwang Village was founded in the Southern Song Dynasty, formerly known as "Wangjiafang". Wang Gengen, the ancestor of the village, moved to Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty, named the village after himself and established Wangjiafang Village. In the middle of Ming Dynasty, there was a top scholar Wang Jing in the village. He was the most famous figure in Wang Village of Tian Chong during the reign of Emperor Shizong of Ming Dynasty. From then on, Wang renamed it "Zhuangyuan Lane". In the late Qing Dynasty, Wangjiafang Village evolved into "Tian Chong Wangcun". The word "Tian Chong" comes from a paddy field in front of the village, which is often washed away by floods, so it is called "Tian Chong". Wu Jiang, a local official in the late Qing Dynasty, and "Wangcun" were collectively called Wangcun. In 1930s, Wangcun was renamed "Shuangxi Village", and its original name was restored after 1949. Chongtianwang Village is near Ganma Heipo Primary School in Ganyu District.
