Dad's Thoughts on Mathematics Teaching
First of all, attach a mind map after reading the math taught by my father.
At the beginning of the book, the author of the book introduced it like this:

In the Internet age, classes are taught through various network platforms, ranging from primary school students' mathematics courses to parents' psychology courses, including mathematics learning methods in music high schools and learning addition, subtraction, multiplication and division from playing cards.
In an encyclopedia, Mr. Sun is such a person:

This is a book with clear structure, with ten chapters, from the most basic "law of numbers" to the difficult "abstract thinking", and finally ending with the problem of family counseling education, which makes people read effortlessly.
Teacher Sun emphasized in the book that family education, especially primary school mathematics education, has different division of labor between parents: mother focuses on the cultivation of interest and father focuses on the development of thinking. Therefore, when tutoring children (I still use the word "tutoring" here, because I can't think of a more suitable word for the time being), my father wants to find a suitable way to cultivate children's mathematical thinking.
First of all, my father teaches "mathematical thinking"
Dad didn't teach too much math. The content of ten chapters plus the appendix at the back was only 178 pages, so I finished intensive reading in only three hours. The content includes mathematical knowledge such as equations, numbers, probability, operation, basic logic, abstract thinking foundation, etc., and "mathematical thinking" has been mentioned no less than seven times in this paper.
In teacher Sun's view, mathematics actually pays attention to the training of thinking, not memory; Learning mathematics is to improve understanding, not to imitate the teacher's ability to do problems skillfully, because the core characteristics of mathematical thinking include three aspects:
Accurate understanding: the important thing is the order, you must have an intuitive understanding of a thing first, and then the text symbols;
Flexible thinking: what matters is direction and possibility;
Rigorous operation: the important thing is concentration.
In this regard, my understanding is that in our family counseling, we should create a cognitive environment that is conducive to children, so that children can discover, comprehend and summarize themselves. We don't need to copy the school education, especially not to explain the mathematical terms and formulas taught by the school (this is the original words in the book). When we study with children, we should guide them to think independently, don't cling to a certain topic and answer, and inspire them to think more about possibilities: provide varied forms, ways and directions, and never overtraining on a certain topic, because this will definitely lead to thinking patterns, which is a serious obstacle for children to learn mathematics. Mathematics is a rigorous subject, one of which means that the calculation (problem solving) process of mathematics needs meticulous attention, so that children can concentrate on listening, watching and even playing, which can bring rigorous thinking.
Second, dad uses a variety of teaching methods.
In the book "Dad Teaching Mathematics", Mr. Sun mentioned many methods that dad learned and used in primary school: games, life scenes, free discussion and drawing. Each method is particularly interesting, which makes Mr. Sun fall in love with mathematics, get good grades and master mathematical thinking.
A teaching case that impressed me deeply: fortune telling for the blind.
"The magical fortune teller has the word 100 on the roadside stall, which is the word of hundreds of surnames. If you stand there for a while, it will ask, which piece of white paper has your last name on it? If you answer the third and fourth questions, he will say your surname is Sun. Then, he asked you to show him your hands and start telling fortune, which may be a bunch of good words. You wonder: How does he know your last name? "

The principle is that the surname on each piece of paper (corresponding to Figure 8- 1) is a code (corresponding to Figure 8-3). When we told the blind man that there were our surnames on those pieces of paper, he used the code combination to calculate the numbers representing surnames, and then said our surnames in the arrangement of surnames that he had already memorized (corresponding to Figure 8-2).
This very lively scene was transformed into a good textbook for learning binary numbers by Teacher Sun. Mr. Sun designed a game to teach his son "Iron Egg", which made "Iron Egg" learn binary numbers easily. "Iron Egg" learned to "show off" to his friends. While getting a lot of praise, he became more interested in mathematics.
The second case of teaching method that impressed me: calculating the age of my brother
Uncle Zheng asked a very confusing question: the two brothers were asked, "How old are you?" My brother said that if my brother was my age, I would be 19 years old, and my brother would say: if my brother was my age, I would be 1 year old. This teacher Sun won't go back to beg his father, and neither will his father. What should I do? Dad used his best routine-painting. When Mr. Sun finished his painting, he knew the answer at once. He also told dad in turn. Teacher Sun later realized that his thinking was effective, and he understood it himself. It is much more effective to tell it again than to wait for someone else to tell it to him. Among them, drawing is the key, and drawing is an important method to solve problems.
Many of our children like drawing, but in the process of mathematics learning, especially in the process of solving problems, drawing is rarely used. Therefore, the drawing problem-solving method advocated by Teacher Sun is really worth learning and using.
Third, how the father teaches mathematics to embody the educational concept.
In Dad's Math Teaching, Mr. Sun's educational philosophy on family education can be reflected between the lines: opposing brushing questions to improve grades, opposing the counseling method of directly providing answers, opposing the over-emphasis on fast learning goals, opposing the learning method of relying only on memory, and opposing the style of "taking shortcuts".
On the contrary, Mr. Sun strongly advocates that it is very important to cultivate mathematical thinking, gamification of middle school teaching, combination of mathematics and life, letting children discover for themselves, and advocating rote learning to understand, understanding first and then remembering.
