Shi Fo ancient temple

I learned about the Stone Buddha Temple from the Internet.

One day, I was browsing at random on the Internet, and some photos of a photographer aroused my interest. It's an old stone Buddhist temple, sandwiched between two roads, and it looks very crowded and cramped. I know very little about the history of temples, and there is not much information on the Internet. What impressed me deeply was its unique terrain, so I also had the idea of visiting on the spot.

On the weekend, I drove to the Stone Buddha Temple near Xinzhuang Village, Doumen Town, Chang 'an District. The temple is small, with two courtyards. The front hall is the Hall of Heroes, dedicated to Sakyamuni Buddha, and the backyard is the Hall of Peacock King, dedicated to Peacock King.

I have been to many Buddhist temples, and it is common to worship Sakyamuni Buddha, but this is the first time I have seen it. I wanted to ask a master in the temple for advice, but there was no one in the courtyard, so I had to ask for help.

It turns out that "Peacock Wang Ming" is the abbreviation of "Great Peacock Wang Ming of Buddha Mother" and is one of the eight Ming Kings of Buddhism (some people say there are ten Ming Kings). The Peacock King Ming Dafa is one of the four laws of esoteric Buddhism.

The Stone Buddha Temple is the Dojo of the Peacock King Ming Sutra. Built in the Tang Dynasty, it is an important temple in the west of Chang 'an. It is said that in the middle of the Tang Dynasty, Tang Suzong summoned Sanzang, Tommy's founder, to open an altar in Chang 'an, and translated the scriptures, and handed over the Sanskrit Buddhist scriptures collected in Chang 'an and Luoyang temples to Sanzang for translation, so the Stone Buddha Temple became Tommy's practice Dojo in the Han Dynasty, which flourished for a time and experienced ups and downs after several times. In the Republic of China, there were quadrangles. Later, the temple was abandoned and the stone Buddha statue was destroyed. The present temple was rebuilt in the 1990s. There are stone carvings such as Siddhartha Gautama, Ananda, Ye Jia and Sumitomo in the temple, which have been verified as cultural relics of the Tang Dynasty.

When Fengjing Avenue was completed, Shi Fo Ancient Temple was in the center of the planned route. The builders used their brains and turned two corners, cleverly avoiding the ancient temple in Shi Fo, forming a strange landscape of two roads and one temple. These two crutches, although seemingly incorrect, show people's respect for religion and traditional culture, which is incorrect but correct.
