The source of allusions

During the Three Kingdoms period in Wu Dong, people called Zheng Gui's physiognomy, Liu Dun's astrology, Wu Fan's weather forecast, Zhao Da's divination, Yan Ziqing's chess skill, Song Shou's dream interpretation, the emperor's calligraphy and Cao Buxing's paintings "Five Masterpieces in Wuzhong" and "Five Masterpieces in Wudong". The Eight Wonders and Lu Wu said: "Eight Wonders, Zheng Yi's good looks, Liu Dunshan's astrology, Wu Fan's good manners, Zhao Dashan's good calculation, Yanwu's good chess, Song Shoushan's good dreams, the emperor's good books and Cao Buxing's good paintings are also' eight wonders'."

Painting of the Eight Wonders: Cao Buxing

Cao Buxing, also known as Fuxing, was born in Wu and Wu Xing in the Three Kingdoms. Later, he was also called "four outstanding figures in the Six Dynasties" with Gu Kaizhi in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, Lu Tanwei in the Southern Song Dynasty and Zhang Sengyou in the Southern Liang Dynasty.

Portrait of Cao Buxing

Cao Buxing is good at careless painting, especially dragons, but the Buddha statues he painted have the greatest influence. What Cao Buxing is best at is figure painting. He once connected 50-foot-long silks to draw a portrait, which was made with clever brushstrokes. The head, face, hands, feet, chest and abdomen, shoulders and back of the characters are all fine. Cao Buxing is the earliest well-known Buddhist painter in the literature, which can be described as "the originator of painting Buddha".

There is also a famous idiom story about Cao Buxing-falling ink like flying. Legend has it that when Cao Buxing painted a screen for Sun Quan, he painted a basket of arbutus. Cao Buxing was so excited because everyone around him was whispering that he accidentally painted the ink dots into flies. Sun Quan came to see the painting screen, thinking that a fly really flew to the painting, he raised his hand to blow it away. Unexpectedly, the fly was actually painted. From then on, it can be imagined that Cao Buxing's sketch art has reached perfection in Chengdu, and he can even deceive people's eyes.

Sheikh, a painter and theorist in Nanqi, praised his painting, which combines dragon and god, and it is ready to come! In the Catalogue of Ancient Paintings (the first systematic monograph on painting evaluation in the history of China painting), Sheikh listed Cao Buxing as the first "top grade", even higher than Gu Kaizhi, the originator of China landscape painting (Gu Kaizhi ranked second).

It is a shame that none of Cao Buxing's works, which have experienced more than 65,438+0,900 years, have been circulated in the world due to wars, natural disasters and other reasons.
