"Historical Records" Volume 12 "Xiao Wu Ji 12"
Master Gong Ji: It's time to wipe out South Vietnam. The heroic words of the Vietnamese people are: "The Vietnamese people believe in ghosts, and their shrines are all ghosts. The figures are valid. In the past, King Dong 'ou worshipped ghosts and lived to the age of 160. Later generations are lazy, so they are tired. " In order to make the temple more sacred, there is no altar on the altar. It's also a shrine of gods, a chicken divination. The more I wrote, the more I began to use it.
Vernacular saying: After the demise of South Vietnam, a Vietnamese named Yong Zhi advised the emperor: "Vietnamese people have the custom of believing in ghosts and gods, and they can often see the effect when offering sacrifices. Once upon a time, the king of Dong 'ou worshipped ghosts and gods and lived to the age of 160. Later generations neglected ghosts and gods, so they declined. "Liang Wudi ordered the wizards across the country to build the Zhu Yue Temple, with only one platform and no altar, and sacrificed gods and ghosts in the same way. This is a method of divination with chicken bones. Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty believed in chicken bone divination in Yue Temple, from then on.
Kesheng culture says: Emperor Wu of Han Dynasty is the son of Emperor Jing of Han Dynasty, the grandson of Emperor Wen of Han Dynasty and the great-grandson of Liu Bang. We can't deny that Liu Che, the Emperor of the Han Dynasty, started a great era in his fifty-four years in office, which directly influenced China for two thousand years, making him an immortal emperor. He ousted a hundred schools of thought, revered Confucianism, opened up the Silk Road, attacked Xiongnu in the north, and took the throne, all of which left a deep impression on the feudal history of China. Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty created a great era, and today we are still pretending to be Han Chinese.
We won't describe the merits and demerits of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, because our history textbooks have all talked about them. Let's talk about the chicken divination used by Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty in Zhu Yue Temple.
Emperor divination generally chooses tortoise divination. At this time, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty used chicken divination. This is the first time in the history of China that chicken hexagrams appeared in the form of written records. No wonder Lu Xun praised: Historians sing a swan song, leaving Sao without rhyme. Without historical records, the history of China will be seriously dated and passed on.
After the divination of chickens, it was recorded in The Generation Beyond the Ridge in the Song Dynasty and Red Cliff in the Ming Dynasty. Nowadays, witches who know chicken divination can be seen everywhere in Zhuang villages.
So what is chicken divination?
The so-called chicken hexagrams are mainly composed of hexagrams, chicken femur and bamboo hexagrams.
What is the method of chicken divination?
With a strong cock, its comb will not be damaged. After washing the chicken feet, the wizard will silently hold the chicken, tell the world and pray for blessing. After killing the chicken, dip the paper money in chicken blood, remove the feathers from the chicken's neck and stick them on bloody paper, and stick them on the shrine or lintel with paper money. Don't put the chicken feet back, raise your head and let them fly. Put two chopsticks on the back of the chicken to shape, cook it and put it on the altar. The mage dressed up and recited scriptures, please enjoy. After chanting, worshipping, burning blood paper money, pulling out chicken hipbone, scraping fascia, and inserting bamboo sticks into blood points, chicken bones and bamboo sticks form hexagrams, which are explained by wizards.
So when did chicken divination originate?
Chicken divination is one of the early witchcraft in China. Seven or eight thousand years ago, many bird bones were unearthed in Dawenkou cultural site in Shandong Province, which was regarded as the childhood of chicken witchcraft. Under the influence of Hemudu culture, chicken divination witchcraft was very popular during the Liangzhu culture period of five thousand years.
Huang Yilu, a famous scholar of Zhuang nationality, once suggested that the Book of Changes originated from the chicken hexagrams, and wrote a book, A Study of the Book of Changes Culture in China, which is really reasonable to read.
Everything about chicken divination should start with the bird totem.
At the time of Pangu, heaven and earth were as chaotic as chickens. So are chicken and eggs. This answers the world problem of chicken or egg first. If the universe is regarded as an egg, the social environment for human survival is born from the chicken. Therefore, with chicken divination, we can peek into the whole universe, predict the origin of everything in the world and even human beings, and communicate with the gods between heaven and earth.
In ancient society, people believed that birds or chickens had a psychic power to manipulate nature, which led to the witchcraft of birds or chickens. Ancient humans regarded migratory birds as the god of seasons and the embodiment of seasonal changes. The seasonal changes of nature year after year, or the arrival of spring, summer, autumn and winter, all begin after migratory birds fly high. Therefore, they regard the wings of migratory birds as symbols of the four seasons.
The history of human raising chickens and poultry is even synchronized with the history of farming and rice cultivation. It is the need of development that the rice-growing ethnic society changes from bird worship to chicken witchcraft to warn the advantages and disadvantages of fighting against nature.
Zhuang people call chicken divination dragon horse turtle, dragon means divination in Zhuang language, horse means witch in Zhuang language, and turtle means chicken in Zhuang language. Although the dragon turtle is a Chinese character, it means chicken divination in Zhuang language. The ancient sound of hexagrams is Gui, and Zhuang language means chicken. In this way, the chicken divination is either the initial stage or the source of Yi.
At present, there is a unified view on the origin of gossip in academic circles, that is, gossip comes from numbers. Numbers are closely related to chicken hexagrams. Oracle Bone Inscriptions unearthed in Yin Ruins is often engraved with the word "Bu" related to the Book of Changes (see the word "Bu" in Oracle Bone Inscriptions above). No matter how you look at these divination characters, they are all related to the chicken divination symbols at the source of Yijing. They are all divination images from the first day, which is an intuitive reflection of the decrease of bamboo pulp after chicken divination imaging.
As for whether the Book of Changes really originated from chicken hexagrams, this is just one of many speculations.
