What does Xiaohong's name mean?

Xiaohong generally refers to Lin Hongyu (a character in Cao Xueqin's novel A Dream of Red Mansions).

Lin Hongyu is a character in China's classic novel A Dream of Red Mansions. The maid of Jia's house, formerly known as Lin Hongyu, was named "Jade", which violated the taboos of Lin Daiyu and Jia Baoyu. So he changed his name to Xiaohong (also known as Honger).
