Gan Tang, formerly known as Dalin, was called Drunk Man. Originally from Chengkou Guild Hall in Sichuan Province, he moved to Zhuanping Guild Hall in Shaanxi Province (now Langao County, Ankang City). He was born in a poor peasant family in Yijiaping, Zhijiang, Gao Lan in the 22nd year of Daoguang in Qing Dynasty. Gan Tang grew up in a poor family and only studied for two years. At the age of nine, my mother died, and my uncle Zhan Huitang took Gan Tang to Pingliluohe Street to raise him. Gan Tang likes painting since he was a child. Because the family is poor and can't afford paper and pens, they often use the opportunity of grazing cattle and chopping wood to draw pictures on the ground with branches. He became a bricklayer at the age of fifteen and began to work at the age of eighteen. After his debut, he married Chen, a native of Huangtuliang, Badaohe, Pingli, and soon returned to worship the painter Wang Rentai as a teacher. In the early years of Guangxu, he returned to Luohe to build an ancestral temple for Li Lianfang, a bachelor of imperial academy. When Li Lianfang saw the Qinglong he painted, he was very surprised and called it a "magic pen". From then on, Gan Tang's paintings became famous. Gan Tang usually dresses simply and is approachable. From the outside, his appearance is not surprising, and his words are not overwhelming. But he was ambitious and not satisfied with being an ordinary painter, so he left Pingli and mounted calligraphy and painting in Xing 'an Prefecture. He pays attention to absorbing the essence of others and making up for his own shortcomings. After long-term exploration and hard practice, his painting skills have been continuously improved, and he finally became a famous painter in Shaanxi. In the 26th year of Guangxu (1900), Eight-Nation Alliance captured Beijing, and Empress Dowager Cixi and the royal family fled to xi 'an for refuge. In order to please Empress Dowager Cixi, Shaanxi Governor Lu invited many famous painters to An Palace to write poems for Empress Dowager Cixi, but he always felt mediocre. Later, he remembered that Gan Tang of Xing 'an Mansion had painted a portrait for him, and it was lifelike, so he called Gan Tang to Xi 'an Palace to paint. After Gan Tang came to Xi 'an, she dipped a lot of ink in the bedroom wall for Empress Dowager Cixi and jumped up and down. In less than a day, he drew vivid grape trellis and other patterns. Governor Lu of Shaanxi Province led the entourage to accept the inspection. He felt cool as soon as he entered the door. Originally, Gan Tang carefully drew the ceiling and walls with a brush, which made the whole house a complete picture. The upright posts were straight, the dead mushrooms were like mosquitoes and dragons, and the layers of green leaves alternated with each other. A bunch of grapes were light green and deep purple, and they were within reach. What's more, a few mice ate grapes, some with alert eyes and some with sensitive ears, as if they could escape with a slight noise, and two mice competed for food. Empress Dowager Cixi "sighed as a miracle" after seeing it. From then on, Gan Tang's painting skills became famous in Beijing. Gan Tang worked hard all his life, studied painting art and constantly improved his painting skills. He was good at depicting people, flowers and scenery in thick ink all his life. Until now, he still has a lot of precious ink. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, he made a living by selling paintings, and traveled to the famous mountains and rivers of the motherland, broadening his horizons.
