The temple was built in the first year of Liang Kaiping in the Five Dynasties (AD 907) and was named Lingfengyuan. In the second year of Song Zhiping (A.D. 1065), it was renamed Baifuyuan. In the forty-ninth year of Qing Qianlong (AD 1784), it was renamed Lingfeng Lecture Temple, commonly known as Lingfeng Temple, which is the largest temple in Anji.
