What do you mean by broken bridge?

The origin of the West Lake

In ancient times, there lived a loving couple in the sky. Her husband is Yulong, honest and sincere, hardworking and brave; His wife is called Cai Feng. She is smart, virtuous and clever. Yulong goes to Xiandao Mountain to hunt and chop wood every day, while Cai Feng weaves and washes clothes at home, and his life is very pleasant.

One day, Yulong went hunting in Xiandao as usual. It happened that the Jade Emperor sent heavenly soldiers to rob the beautiful women on earth. Before Yulong could go home, a Tianhe river had blocked his way, so the two of them separated. Every day, only when Yulong stands at the top of Xiandao can husband and wife look at each other. In this way, day after day, year after year passed. Yulong and Cai Feng suffered from separation, but they still loved each other deeply. Their love touched the mountain gods in the sky.

One day, Yulong came down from the top of the mountain and met an old man with silver hair. The old man stood on a shiny stone and said to Yulong, "As long as you can grind this stone into pearls, you and your wife can be reunited." The old man said that and disappeared. When Yulong heard this, he immediately went home to get tools and grinded stones day and night. People are tired, thin and old, but his perseverance in sharpening stones has not changed. Whether it's windy or rainy, hot or cold, it can't shake his faith.

Finally one day, a bright pearl appeared in front of him. Yulong was ecstatic and walked to Tianhe with pearls. Suddenly, a colorful colored bridge was laid on the Tianhe River, extending to his feet. Cai Feng stood at the other end of the bridge, and they finally got together.

This incident was later known by the Jade Emperor, who immediately sent heavenly soldiers and generals to rob the pearl. Yulong and Cai Feng vowed to defend the Pearl. In the struggle, the pearl accidentally fell into the world, fell to the ground, and became a beautiful West Lake. Yulong and Cai Feng didn't want to be separated by the heavenly soldiers, so Yulong became Yuquan Mountain, and Cai Feng became Phoenix Mountain by Qiantang River. They were still guarding the West Lake day and night. An ancient ballad has been circulating in Hangzhou so far: "The Pearl of the West Lake descended from the sky, and the dragon and phoenix danced in Qiantang."

The name of the broken bridge comes from the fact that after the winter snow, the snow in the center of the bridge top melts first, but the snow at both ends of the bridge lasts for a long time and looks like it is broken. It is the snow that breaks, not the bridge itself.
