The word "Jiugu" sounds like a title to people, but in susong county, it is a place name, bearing people's yearning for a better life and condensing people's hometown feelings.

Judging from the evolution of administrative divisions, the development history of Jiugu is only 79 years, but this place name was born as early as the Qing Dynasty.

Before 1940, the name "Jiugu" did not exist in the administrative divisions of this county. It was not until the Republic of China changed the joint insurance system to the district, town and township insurance system that the name of "Jiugu District" appeared on the local administrative division map. After liberation, the county people * * * continued to retain the administrative system of Jiugu District.

1in March, 1992, the county implemented the policy of "withdrawing districts and merging townships", and Jiugu District withdrew from the historical stage. The four towns originally under the jurisdiction of Jiugu District merged into Jiugu Township and Qianling Township. Jiugu District has gone through 52 years from its establishment to its cancellation. During this period, it underwent 16 administrative division adjustments, and was renamed as "District Office" and "Revolutionary Committee" successively, and the towns under its jurisdiction were renamed as "Township People's Committee", "People's Commune" and "Township People's * *" successively.

During the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty, in a place called Yang Maoling in Jiugu Township, there was an old man named Yu who gave birth to ten children, and the ninth was his daughter, who was called "Nine Girls". Nine girls are thin and thin, saying that they were born on "Red Sand Day". In ancient times, people were superstitious about the unlucky daughter born on this day. Nine girls' parents are very worried about this and always want to make a living for her. So, on the side of a mountain, a tea shed was built to sell tea. Nine girls are kind-hearted. Rich or poor, they are treated equally, and their business is very prosperous. It is said that there were many teahouses in Jiugu area, and the prosperity of drinking tea was related to Jiugu. One day, nine girls went to Europe to visit relatives. On the way back from Qianling, they suddenly fell ill and died. The local residents found a clearing and buried them. Two years after her burial, nine girls "appeared" and gave her everything she wanted. Local residents donated money to raise funds and built a temple in Jiuguniang Cemetery, named Jiugu Temple. Nine girls are regarded as gods and called "Nine Girls". From then on, Jiuguling was named after Jiuguniang, and Jiuguling District was named after Jiuguling.

There are nine strands in the hometown of culture, including Xi Du ancient bridge, Liang Shi tomb and Imperial Monument Pavilion.

Xi Du Ancient Bridge, located on Xi Du River in Xi Du Village, Jiugu Town, is a stone arch bridge. According to the ten-year edition of Susong County Records of the Republic of China, the bridge was built in Hongzhi period of Ming Dynasty (1499) and rebuilt in Zhujuan, susong county in Qing Dynasty. It is paved with more than 700 square stones, and it still stands on the Xi Du River despite hundreds of years of ups and downs and floods. In ancient times, this bridge was the only way from the county seat to Xu Ling, Xiacang, Wangjiang and Pengze, with endless traffic. Zhu Shu, a great writer and academician in the early Qing Dynasty, had an indissoluble bond with Jiang and Qiao. He wrote Du Wen Ji and Du Shi Ji in the name of Du, and also wrote Du Xi Yin, which is very famous. "Flowers burn wild on both sides of the strait, and a stream of willows catches smoke." Touching the scene and blending the scene, in Zhu Shu's pen, Duxi Bridge can be described as beautiful.

Shi Liang, known as the "rural prime minister", is a native of Xi Du Village, Jiugu Township. In the peasant uprising at the end of Yuan Dynasty, he led the army to Jiujiang to surrender to Zhu Yuanzhang, and was named Marshal, guarding Susong. Later, he led an army to attack Huguang, and made outstanding achievements. In the second year of Hongwu (1369), he was appointed General Wude, served as the commander-in-chief and guarded Bozhou. Hongwu ten years, was appointed as general Wu Jie. In the eighteenth year of Hongwu, he excused himself and returned to his hometown. He was raised by Ming Taizu to build the Prime Minister's Mansion, and then he built the Jiuzhong Guanting, hence the name "Shi Prime Minister's Mansion". In A.D. 1394, Shi Liang died at home at the age of 74 and was buried in Xi Du. A memorial pavilion was built behind the tomb, which completely recorded his heroic deeds of protecting the environment and protecting the people and made immortal contributions to the establishment of the Ming Dynasty. 1983, Liang Shi Tomb was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in the county. At the beginning of 2000, the relevant departments of the county renovated the pavilion in northern Henan to make it look brand-new. Up to now, people here still call Liang Shi's village "Stone Prime Minister's Mansion".

Jiugu Township is endowed with unique geographical resources, with an endless Daguan Lake in the east and a handsome chiseled mountain in the west. It is a famous ecological hometown in the county.

One side of the soil and water, raise one side. With the high-quality fishery resources of Daguan Lake and the rich limestone resources of Chishan, the simple and hardworking people of Jiugu Township, with the spring breeze of reform and opening up, are striding forward with firm steps on the road of getting rid of poverty and becoming rich.

In the 1980s, almost every family in Jiugu Township had small wooden boats, and every family made a living by fishing. Families with developed fisheries often row boats by the lake and go fishing in Longzhou Lake, a hundred miles away. Residents living in Chishao mountain area vigorously develop quarrying industry. Before 1990s, the number of stone processing plants set up on both sides of the road at the foot of Chishao Mountain increased to more than 100 at most. From morning till night, the roar of the machine is endless.

Jiugu was once a famous "hometown of firecrackers" in southwest Anhui. Hundreds of families living in Jiuguling produce firecrackers. The processing of firecrackers production process has solved the employment problem of many residents in surrounding towns and villages. Before the beginning of 2000, firecrackers became the pillar industry of Jiugu Township and a business card for its development. Many foreigners learned about Jiugu through firecrackers.

From Jiugu District to Jiugu Commune and then to Jiugu Township, "Jiugu" grew with the development of new China. For more than 70 years, no matter how the jurisdiction changes, it has not changed its firm belief in leading the broad masses of cadres to embrace a better life.

Today's Jiugu Township is full of the development breath of the new era. Beautiful countryside's construction is in full swing, infrastructure construction is in the ascendant, public services are improving day by day, and buildings are everywhere. Many villagers have bought houses in county towns or other places.
