Murals of Sheng 'an Temple

It is said that the murals in the hall were painted by Shang, a great painter in Ming Dynasty. There are eight story paintings about Buddha on the east, west and north walls. The three Bodhisattva statues behind the back screen, the brushwork of clothing lines and the coloring of skin are all exquisite. The murals in Sheng 'an Temple represent the typical style of religious murals in China at the beginning of15th century. Buddha statues and murals were destroyed in the late 1960s, and the Daphne Pavilion was moved to Taoranting Park.
